February fun....a little bit of snow and a huge ice storm!

Valentine's Day fell on a Sunday this year and the kids got to celebrate online with their classmates and then got to have a fun Valentine's Day party at their tutor Sherri's house with all their learning pods friends.  They decorated cookies and gave their friends Valentine's.

Happy Valentine's Day

On February 12th it snowed and there was quite a bit of ice pellets coming down.  That day it snowed a bit and there was about a 1/4" thick ice underneath it.  It was quite the ice storm.  Little did we know it would get worse.  The night of February 12th it got into the low 20s and the ice got even thicker.  We awoke on the 13th to a thick sheet of ice covering our laundry room window and hanging out of our car.  We were supposed to go to the coast with the Mowery family but it was so icy that parts of highway 18 to the coast were closed.  We decided to postpone to the next weekend.  We played in the snow and took a fun walk to the sledding hill in our neighborhood.  I began cleaning out our kitchen and we went and got Addie and dropped Brandon off at the Mowery's house for a sleepover.  The girls had a fun sleepover and I was able to fully organize our kitchen during the stormy weather.

On Sunday the 14th, the weather improved slightly but it was still quite icy.  Cupid came and the kids had a fun candy hunt around the house. Sean made fresh shrimp pasta and we had some yummy bubbly Rose from our winery.

We took our friends the Mowery's to my parents' new beach house at Bella Beach the weekend of February 27th.  I ended up deciding to go a day early and having the kids and myself do work and remote learning from the beach house. It was fun to have another day there and we enjoyed some clear cold weather on the beach.  It was really fun that there was hardly any one there.  The Mowery's came that night after Addie's gymnastics and the kids had fun hanging out and then went to bed.

The next morning the kids were up early and we headed to the beach while it was low tide.  We had a fun walk on the beach and then headed back to the house to warm up.  Brooke and I got to sneak off in the early afternoon to go shopping at the outlets and bought the girls a matching swimsuit and summer outfit with lemon shorts.  The boys enjoyed playing pool and we headed back down to the beach before dinner.  We ordered from Sea Hag in Depoe Bay and had fun walking around and going to our favorite candy shop before dinner.  On Sunday we all had fun down at the beach and went to Gleneden Beach for a while (which had a larger beach more protected from high tide).  The girls enjoyed practicing their gymnastics on the beach.

On our way back from the beach we met my parents and sister in McMinnville to celebrate Jasper's 5th birthday.  We enjoyed cupcakes and Jasper liked all the presents he got.  It was a fun birthday celebration.

Happy Birthday Jasper!
