Dance and Gymnastic Halloween Festivities

During the week leading up to Halloween, Olivia's dance and gymnastics classes allowed the kids to wear Halloween costumes to class.  Olivia had fun dressing up for dance class as a Unicorn Fairy, this was a cute costume that I happened to find at a consignment sale from the Pottery Barn Kids.  This would be normally way past my budget if I didn't find it used for $8.  Olivia loved wearing it to dance class although the wings got in the way with dancing a bit.  For gymnastics class a few days later Olivia wore her kitty halloween costume she bought for actual Halloween.  This was a bit more practical as she was able to tumble more easily.

Cub Scouts meeting and last soccer game

We had our first den meeting for Cub Scouts in October at Brandon's den leader's house.  I agreed to be the assistant den leader as they needed someone to help out.  Our first den meeting was a success and we got through a lot of the requirements including the "Into the Wild" requirement which lead us on a backyard exploration and making bird houses.  The kids had a lot of fun together.

Funny faces!
We had a full weekend the weekend before Halloween with Brandon's last soccer game and team party and then our Halloween Party at our house later that day.  Brandon had such a fun soccer season and made so many good buddies on his team.  He hustled a lot and scored quite a few goals.  It was fun seeing him have so much fun and great exercise.  He had a fun last soccer game and it was a beautiful sunny fall day.  The kids had a fun party at Cook Park running around and eating donuts.  It was such a beautiful Fall Day!

Brandon Birthday letter age 7

Dear Brandon,                                                December 22, 2017

I am almost 20 days past your birthday but at least in the same month!  I am writing you this letter at CiCi and Baba’s house as we get ready for Christmas.  You had such a fun birthday this year.  It was so fun watching you have so much fun with all your friends.  Your teacher this year, Mrs. Lambert, said that you are “very kind and have no problems making friends” and boy is that true.  You had lots of people come to your birthday to celebrate you!  15 in fact!

You are in first grade this year.  First grade is a lot less play time than kindergarten and more hard work but you seem to be adjusting well.  You complained at first (but it also did not help that you did not get to go out at recess due to the Gorge wild fires).  Then you got used to it and also got your music, PE, and library times back daily (you alternate them).  You are doing really well in reading.  You have a reading group for 1.5 hours each day and you got to be with Mrs. Lambert (your normal teacher) and you seem to be learning a lot.  Your favorite books are the graphic novels called Bone, The Diary of a Wimpy Kid series, and the Magic Tree house series.  You are reading these chapter books fairly well on your own but do like us to read every other paragraph or two with you.

You are whiz at math.  The other day we were counting how much money we would earn from the cans and bottles we collected and I asked you how many cents were in a dollar and then how many cans it would take to get $10 (each can is $.10 cents).  You knew the correct answer that it would be 100 cans/bottles.  Your teacher is giving you extra math activity sheets and attention since you get bored so easily with the first grade math work.

Your favorite food is still chicken this year.  You love ice-cream for dessert, especially cookie dough and cookies n’ cream ice-cream.  You still do not love vegetables.  You love playing Minecreaft with Daddy on the Xbox one, playing board games with the family, cooking, going to movies, and have had two sleep overs with your good pal Logan.

Physically, you are 52” tall and 72 lbs.  You are in the 99% in the height and 95% in weight.  You love most sports, your favorite being basketball and baseball although you have done soccer and swim lessons as well this year.  You are at least 2-3 inches taller than most of your friends in your class, you wear a size 4 shoe (which is a woman’s 6!).  You are wearing size 8 and size 7-8 in most clothes and I am buying size 10 clothes now (the next size up!).

Your best friends are Colton and Riley and Logan.  You have other good friends that you enjoy playing with as well from the YMCA and your classes.  You love your first grade teacher Mrs. Lambert.

Brandon, you are such a fun loving, kind, compassionate guy.  You genuinely are concerned about others’ feelings a lot of the time.  You are gregarious and kind and very patient with your sister.  Speaking of your sister, you and Olivia’s relationship has really blossomed and the two of you still play together quite a bit.  You are great with playing imaginary games with Olivia.  You are one of the few people who know how to calm your sister down when she needs to be calmed down.

Your dad and I love you so much.  I can’t believe I have a 7 year old.  We can’t imagine our lives without you.

Love,

Mommy
