Addie's birthday and a quick trip to Sokol Blosser on the way to the coast

Addie's birthday party fell on the day that we were leaving to go to the Coast for 3 nights with Sean's family.  We had rented a beach house in Lincoln City and took the Monday off before the 4th of July which was on a Tuesday so we had a 4 day weekend.  We packed the car up as quickly as we could and then headed to Safari Sam's in Sherwood for Addie's birthday party.  Olivia was super excited to see Addie and play at Safari Sam's, one of her favorites!  Addie had a fun Beauty and the Beast themed birthday party and the kids had a blast running around the jungle gym and the bounce house.

After we were done, we headed out to Sokol Blosser, which we are wine members at on our way to the Coast. Sokol Blosser is just after Dundee on 99W on the way to the coast.  We had a lot of fun trying some of their new wines and we enjoyed our time out not the back patio.  The kids even had fun!  And then we were off to the coast.

California here we come!

Brandon has a special love for his cousin Jasper and his Auntie Rachel and has been wanting to visit them and see where they both live for the last year.  Brandon has also been super into Daddy lately, in basically idolizing everything that Daddy does.  Part of it is that Sean helped out with his Little League team and co-coached and part of it may have been that Olivia is latched onto me.  Either way I thought a little long weekend trip with him and I to California would be perfect for our relationship and a great way to see my sisters.  Plus Brandon is at a very adaptable fun age at 6 ½ and so he would make the perfect travel partner.  I also thought it would be good for Sean and Olivia’s relationship for the two of them to spend the entire weekend together.  They ended up going down to Eugene to see Grammy and Papa for the weekend which was fun for them to have some one-on-one time with Olivia as well.

Brandon and I left for California on a Thursday.  Our flight left in the early afternoon and was direct.  We kept Olivia home with us until it was time for us to leave for the airport.  Brandon was so excited for his first flight that he remembers (the last flight he went on was when he was almost 2).  We dropped Olivia off at daycare and got to the airport with plenty of time before our flight.  We made it through security with no problems and got to the gate where we decided to get some lunch.  After we ate our lunch we got on the airplane. Brandon was so excited for the flight.  We did some fun reading on the plane ride and played Crazy Eights on the flight together.

We arrived in California early and my sister Rachel and Jasper picked us up.  It was so cute to see how excited Jasper was to see Brandon and I.  It was obvious he remembered us!  Brandon was super excited to see where Rachel and Jasper lived.  It was fun showing him that.  We decided to go on a walk to get some ice cream for a quick snack before dinner and stopped by a park near Rachel’s house.  Brandon and Jasper had a lot of fun playing at the park.  We then came back to Rachel’s house where Rachel and Patrick made us a yummy taco dinner.  Tory and Tom came over for dinner and then Brandon and I headed back to Tory’s house where we spent the next two nights.

The next day I had made plans with my Aunt Lael to come see her new apartment In the City.  I also had made plans to meet up with my good friend Corinne from college that had moved to the Santa Cruz area.  Brandon and I took our first uber carpool into the City and it went very smoothly.  We got to my Aunt’s house and had a lot of fun seeing her awesome new place.  Corinne met us at her place as my Aunt had free parking and then we took the cable car to the Fisherman Wharf area.  We were going to go to the San Francisco Aquarium but we realized we were short on time.  We ate a very yummy lunch at the Wharf and then had a blast walking around.  We ended up going to this fun Arcade Museum that had all these really old arcade games some even from 75-100 years ago.  Brandon had a blast playing $5 worth of arcades.  After the arcade games we had fun looking at Alcatraz and the Bay and then I let Brandon go souvenir shopping for himself and to get a little present for Olivia.  Brandon chose a figit spinner for himself and then a cute little owl for Olivia.  We took an uber back to Tory’s house and then went out to eat with Rachel to a fun pizza place near Tory’s house.  It was a lot of fun to go out to dinner.  Afterwards we came back and some fun girl time (plus Brandon) and then headed to bed.

On Saturday morning we had plans to go to my Aunt Lael’s house in Los Gatos (which is only about 45 minutes away from Tory’s house).  We picked Rachel up on the way and Jasper and then headed out.  Brandon enjoyed entertaining Jasper in the car next to him.  We got to Los Gatos just before noon and then everyone got into my Aunt’s pool.  Brandon loves swimming and loved my Aunt’s pool.  It was very nice and relaxing to be in her pool and my Aunt had very fun floating Swans.  After we swam for a while we had lunch and then Brandon showed his Aunties and Jasper the movie Moana which they had never seen.  After that we had a yummy fajita dinner and then went out to get ice-cream afterwards. Then we all went to bed to get some rest.

The next day was Sunday and we had to fly back home in the late afternoon.  We all had a very fun swim in the morning before we flew out.  Jasper had a blast even in the pool.  We headed back to the airport and had some lunch at the airport and walked around.  Brandon had a lot of fun on the flight back and then we got into our car where Brandon promptly fell asleep the entire way back home.  Funny thing is that Olivia was sleeping at the same time the entire way home from Eugene.  It was such a fun trip and I had a blast hanging out one-on-one with Brandon and seeing my sisters.
