Joining Cub Scouts and a Trip to Build A Bear

We had heard great things about Alberta Rider's Cub Scout program from Logan (who joined last year when he was in first grade).  Brandon had to be in first grade to join.  In the summer he went to a fun den water fight at Cook Park and S'mores night and loved it so we signed him up in the fall.  We got his uniform (which was quite an ordeal with all the badges, patches, and accessories).  He looked really cute in it though.  Brandon's first Den meeting was right after soccer practice at Alberta Rider.  They got to make marshmallow launchers while there was a parent volunteer meeting.  I ended up getting roped into being the assistant pack leader.  Brandon's pack is the Tiger (all first graders are Tigers).  At first there was only Brandon but then Brandon's good friend Cruz joined and another boy joined and his dad became the Pack Leader.  The time commitment is not too bad.  It is year round but there is not much activity in the summer except for Cub Scout camp.  There is 1 Den meeting a month and 1 Den activity a month and then 1-2 pack meetings a month.  I did Girl Scouts and loved it and I was excited that Brandon got to do some civic and character building with Cub Scouts.

Later that week we went to Build A Bear after the kids school.  The kids had saved up their allowance and birthday money for about 5 months and each had about $48 and wanted to go to Build A Bear to spend their money.  We got there and Build A Bear was having a big My Little Pony special (due to the movie) and a lot of the ponies were 2 for $35 or $30 each.  So Olivia got Song Bird, the new Rock Star My Little Pony from the movie and another horse.  Brandon was super excited to get a Pokemon and they had just gotten Charizard in so Brandon was super excited to get him.  The kids had fun stuffing their animals and Olivia added a song to Songbird and then they picked out some clothing for their animals.  It was a fun afternoon!

Soccer pictures and building a Halloween Haunted House with Daddy

The second weekend in October, Olivia had picture day with her soccer team.  I got a couple really cute pictures of her and Addie before the game and her team.  It was another beautiful sunny day.  I had to go pick up my consignment stuff that didn't sell at the Baby Bottom Dollar Fall consignment sale later that day.  I was able to carpool with Brooke which was nice.  Sean had the kids to himself for the afternoon and decided to make a Haunted gingerbread house with the kids.  The kids had a blast since candy was involved and Sean took some cute pictures of them.

Dance and a Fall Trip to the Zoo

Three and a half weeks post-surgery I finally was able to drive and take Olivia to dance class on Thursday.  She had fun dressing up in a recently bought consignment tutu outfit I found and looked so cute!

The next day we had some beautiful fall weather and I decided to take the kids to the zoo after school.  I picked Brandon up right after school and then we headed down and picked Olivia up and had two fun hours at the zoo.  We found a very interactive monkey who was interested in Olivia’s “Mister Monkey” stuffed animal.  It was fun seeing all the leaves turning various colors.  Fall in Oregon is so beautiful.  The zoo was nice and quiet and we had a blast.  It was fun seeing that they were preparing for the Zoo Lights already as well.

Painting Pumpkins and Making Halloween Cookies in Early October

I continued my recuperation in early October.  Since I still had to be off of my feet, we had to stay around the house.  We had a lot of fun getting the Halloween decorations out around the house.  The kids wanted to put their ghost lights up in the play room window and I was able to do that so their play room was festive.  We also put out Pumpkin stake lights on our pathway and our spider and spider web lights on the front of our house.  This year I got these fun Halloween stickers that the kids got to put in our windows in the living room.
Before I had foot surgery, I had fun at Target and bought ceramic pumpkins to decorate with the kids.  The kids had a blast decorating them.  The kids also helped me make sugar cookies.  They had a lot of fun cutting out the Halloween shapes in the cookies (I had several Halloween cookie cutters) and baking them.  Olivia still loved decorating the sugar cookies the best (she loves frosting still!).  It was a fun way to celebrate the beginning of Fall and the Halloween season (one of my favorite seasons of the year).
