Fun Anniversary Celebration weekend

In mid August Sean's parents volunteered to take care of Olivia and Brandon for 5 days so Sean and I got some kid-free time!  After constant time with the kids during the pandemic it was so nice to get a break from them and have some adult time.  Sean and I planned to go to Yahacts for 3 days and to stay in a nice adult only beach front resort the Overleaf Lodge and Spa.  We started off our trip staying in Eugene for a night and seeing Sean's parents and dropping the kids off.  Then we headed up to Corvallis and dropped off Lulu and Teddy at my parent's house and said hi to my parents.  We went golfing at Trysting Tree one of our favorite courses in Corvallis and then got a late lunch at Block 15 another one of our favorite's outside of course!  It was so nice to be without the kids and have some adult time!

Golfing with Sean at Trysting Tree so much fun!

We got our hotel in the early evening and were amazed at our beautiful ocean view room.  We got take out from a yummy local seafood restaurant and brought it back to our room to be safe with COVID and ate dinner watching the sun go down.  We ended up enjoying watching TV in bed and got a lot of sleep not having to worry about kids!

The next morning we enjoyed our yummy breakfast that came with our hotel room that they delivered to our room.  We planned a fun hike to Cape Perpetula where we hiked about 4 miles around.  We had such nice weather and enjoyed the beautiful views.  It was a special place with memories with my family as my mom's parents loved spending time and hiking there.

I set up my tripod and got this amazing shot of us in Cape Perpetula

We had a fun lunch at Yahacts Brewing and some drinks after hiking and then headed back to our resort where we had an amazing massage that we had booked in advance.  After the message we went to a yummy dinner outside at Ona Restaurant and Lodge.  We had an amazing dinner there and it was so nice to celebrate our anniversary.  We went back to our hotel and watched Friends-we were stuffed!

The next day we went hiking up Cape Perpetua again.  This time we hiked all the way up about 5 miles Saint Perpetua and Giant Spruce Trail.  There were beautiful views but I was terrified of the heights.  We made it up to the top and saw some beautiful views.  I was proud of myself for making it up but didn't get the great views with us with the tripod because I got so nervous of falling.  After our hike, we went golfing at Yahacts golf course.  We had a lot of fun renting a cart and watching the Blazer playoff game on our phones.  The Blazers won the game!  After golfing we showered and then went out to another amazing dinner at The Drift Inn Hotel and Restaurant.  We had some amazing clams and seafood and an amazing dessert!  After that we watched the sunset as it was our last night in Yahacts.  Then we played cribbage by our balcony and Sean taught me how to play.

The next day we were sad to leave but had fun eating breakfast in our room and going on a fun hike near our hotel along the rocky shores of Yahacts.  We had to pick the dogs up and then head back to Portland as we both had to work the next day.  Sean also was going to make some furniture he got (an entertainment center) for the bonus room that we were re-doing.  It was nice chatting with my parents and picking up the dogs.  We had such a fun trip.

Last day in Yahacts

We picked the kids up 2 days later on Tuesday after having two days without having to deal with the kids while working (super nice!).  We picked them up in Albany and had a beer with Sean's parents.  The kids had fun with their grandparents and went to Alsea falls, went ocean crabbing, and made s'mores outside in Papa's firepit.  They watched lots of movies and Olivia got to go to Target with Grammy and pick out her late birthday present.  It was such a fun time for them making memories with their Grandparents!

Fun activities in early August

Fun at the zoo!

The gang at the zoo

We had a fun trip to the zoo-the first time we had been since it closed in March due to the pandemic.  They were open limitedly with reservation and I was able to use our zoo membership and take the kids and their two friends-Teodora and John.  It was really fun getting out of the house and seeing the animals.  The kids had fun hanging out with their friends as well.

We went to Corvallis for the day and left fairly early in the morning to spend as much time as we could with CiCi and Baba. We went to the Alsea River in Philmouth and had a blast swimming in the river.  The dogs loved being able to explore and swim off leash with the kids.  We had dinner at CiCi and Baba's and went to Walnut Park which the kids were super excited to see they could play on the playground (everything was still shut up in Portland).  We had a fun day and it was so nice seeing Cici and Baba!

Brandon was able to play baseball in the summer and while we could not sit in the stands we could walk by and watch him at the park.  He had fun playing.  The kids had fun sports camps the first two weeks of August with Sky Hawks and Olivia did a cheerleading camp and Brandon a baseball camp.  Olivia and Addie got to have a double sleep over-1 night at our house and then 1 night at Addie's house.  The girls were in heaven. Brandon and I ventured out to Ikea for a day and we totally re-did the kids' play room.  Olivia got rid of a lot of her toys and we made it a more older kids' hangout room.  The room turned out great. We went to the zoo again with the Mowery family and had a blast exploring the zoo again.
