Halloween Fun COVID style

For Halloween this year we decided to follow the CDC guidelines and not go trick or treating.  They were worried about a potential surge in the fall.  It was sad because Halloween was actually on a Saturday this year which would have been so fun for trick or treating.  The kids did get to go and celebrate Halloween with their tutoring pod and have a fun party.  They also had a virtual party with their class.

These two were hilarious together!

On Halloween it was a beautiful sunny day.  The Mowery's and us had planned a fun Halloween party for the kids where we would hunt for candy, enjoy a fire pit at their house, decorate candy apples, and then go over to our house for another candy hunt and a Halloween movie-the new "Witches" movie.  The kids and I went to a farm near our house to get yummy apples for our candy apples for the party.  We got the kids dressed up and Lulu and Teddy and got some cute Halloween photos at our house before we went over to the Mowery's.

We headed over to the Mowery's house and got some photos of the kids before they went on their candy hunt which was all outside.  Sean made some yummy chicken enchiladas and we had a fire pit.  We made the candy apples which ended up being so huge.  Next time I know to get smaller apples as the kids could not eat all of them.  We headed back over to our house to watch the new Ronald Dahl Witches movie and found that mostly Lulu had gone crazy with searching for candy all over our house while we were gone and ripping them open.  She was on a crazed sugar high when we found and miraculously had not thrown up.  Luckily she hadn't eaten too much chocolate.  Teddy didn't seem quite as crazed and wasn't as into sweets as Lulu.  We had a quick indoor candy hunt and watched the movie which was quite good.  Then the kids got to have a sleepover.  It was a fun Halloween!

The next day I picked Olivia up from Brooke's house and we went to the Oregon zoo Howlween celebration with Rachel and Jasper.  We had a lot of fun going with them again and it has become a tradition!  We got home and the kids had fun sorting through all their Halloween candy.

Fun trip to Corvallis

Towards the end of October we planned a trip down to Corvallis to see my parents for a weekend.  We rented an Airbnb on a farm that was only 7 minutes from my parents' house and very close to Chip Ross Park for Friday and Saturday nights.  We lucked out on weather and it was pretty sunny most of the weekend.  We stayed on the top floor of a converted barn that had been renovated and included a full kitchen, dining room, living room and 2 bedrooms and a full bathroom.  It was the perfect size for our family.  The farm was beautiful and it was very fun to have a place to visit so we could see my parents.  We hadn't seen our parents since late August when we were in Bend.  The kids loved seeing the chickens (and so did Lulu and Teddy) and going on the horse rope swing.

We had breakfast with my mom each morning outside on our pretty deck.  We all went on a fun hike near our farm to Chip Ross Park.  The weather was beautiful and the fall leaves made the hike so much fun.  On Saturday Rachel's family came to visit for part of the day and we enjoyed showing them the farm.  We had yummy outdoor dinners at Cici and Baba's house on their porch each night.  It was a fun trip and I sure do love Oregon in the fall.  So many beautiful colors!
