Kindergarten Graduation and the End of the Year Classroom Party

Kindergarten graduation was on the Thursday before school got out.  It was nice because my mom comes on Thursdays so she could bring Olivia and watch Brandon graduate too.  I got to the school 30 minutes before the graduation as the class was doing a special thank you party for the classroom volunteers before the graduation.  It was really cute the class sang three cute songs and then the teacher gave us each a gift, which was some yummy homemade cookies.

After that we headed to the gym and I was able to save a seat for my mom and Sean as they arrived just before the graduation (the traffic was really bad and parking bad).  We were sitting fairly close to the front but the kids were up on the stage so it was hard to get really good pictures.  They all arrived and got up on stage and sang some songs and then they called each kid's name one by one by class.  They had the kids lined up from shortest to tallest so Brandon, who was the tallest in his class, was the last one to have his name called.  After that, they had a brief reception with cookies and then the kids got to go home.  It was a really cute graduation and I can't believe I have a first grader!

The day before the last day of school (Monday), Brandon's classroom had their end of the year party. Brandon was really excited for this party as he and his classmates had been working hard on 5 key components this spring to get all 5 ice-cream scoops/toppings on their sundaes at the party.  They had to be able to spell their first and last name, know their birthdate, know their address, know their phone number, and be able to tie their shoes.  Brandon was able to do all 5 of these and was so excited to get to choose his toppings and scoops.  They ate ice-cream and then afterwards got to go outside and play various yard games they had set up outside.  It was a very hot day but the kids had a blast anyways.  Such a fun way to celebrate the school year coming to an end!
