9 months old!

Olivia is 9 months old today.  She has changed so much in the last month it is astonishing.  She has gone from a fairly immobile little baby (she could roll around to get to things but that was about it) to full on crawling and now pulling up and cruising to get to things and get around.  She love to stand and we have to be so careful because she is way more adventurous than Brandon was at this age and will suddenly let go and try to walk by herself.  I have to be constantly watching her or by her side as she can pull up at any time and then slip and fall and bonk herself.  She does not like to get hurt and seems to be more dramatic than Brandon about her falls at this age.

Olivia continues to get cared by her teachers at Rocking Horse Day School (where Brandon goes to preschool).  She loves her teachers and is really happy there aside from not napping there sometimes that great and coming home tired.  They do not have a dedicated napping room so it can get noisy in there which sometimes makes it hard for Olivia to fall asleep as she is overly stimulated.  Olivia also is really beginning to interact with the other babies.  She likes to wake them up now that she can pull up so they will play with her.  My mother, Olivia's CiCi continues to take care of her two days a week.  It is so cute seeing Olivia excited to see my mom.  It is awesome that she is formulating such a close relationship with her.  As my mom says it really does take a village to raise a child.

Olivia learned how to wave this week.  She can wave bye bye.  I swear I heard her say "bye bye" the other day.  She loves playing with her walkers and baby dolls.  She loves paying attention to details such as the baby doll's eyes that open and close.  She could spend for hours playing with the string of my sweatshirt.  It is sweet to see the relationship between Olivia and Brandon continue to grow.  Brandon sometimes gets annoyed with her because she takes his toys but for the most part he is a nurturing older brother and gentle with her.  Olivia is enjoying Brandon's toys now and her eyes lit up when she sees him.

I am getting a bit nostalgic as I watch Olivia grow.  It just seems like yesterday I brought her home from the hospital and now she is a cruising 9 month old.  It seems like she has grown up before my eyes.  She is way more like a toddler now than a baby.  I am sad to see her grow up but it is so fun at the same time watch her become her own little person.

Christmas 2013

I know I am really behind on my blog when I am writing about Christmas almost two months after it happened.  We had a really fun Christmas this year.  We went down to Corvallis on Saturday December 20th.  My sisters both arrived on Saturday and spent the day shopping with my mom in Portland.  Before we hit the road to Corvallis we had some fun wine tasting at Four Graces with the kids and picking up our Winter wine shipment.

After wine tasting we came back home and packed up the car and after Brandon's afternoon nap headed down to Corvallis.  It is always so fun to be able to go back to my childhood for the holidays.  My parents' house is large and accommodating for so many people.  It was especially nice to see my sisters who I only get to visit a few times a year.  They were astonished at how big Olivia had gotten.  And it was Olivia's first Christmas which made it very special as well.

We had a fun Sunday getting everything ready for Christmas.  We put up the lights on my parents' ginormous tree and baked cookies.  Unfortunately on Sunday night both my sisters and my Dad came down with terrible food poisoning we believe from American Dream Pizza and specifically the bacon that was on the pizza.  They were up most of the night violently ill.  The ones of us who did not eat the bacon pizza did not seem affected.  That was a pretty big bummer because they were sick for Monday and most of Tuesday and just starting feel a bit better on Christmas Eve.  It also meant that my mom did not have all the helpers she usually has to get Christmas ready so us healthy ones had to help out a lot.

Brandon and Olivia had a lot of fun though getting reacquainted with their Aunts and playing at CiCi and Baba's big house.  Brandon was super excited for presents and for Santa to come.  On Christmas Eve we had our traditional sandwiches and King Tin Hot and Sour soup under the Christmas tree which Brandon enjoyed.  We hung up our stockings and read the Night Before Christmas.  It was of course hard for Brandon to fall asleep because he was so excited for Christmas.  It was really cute when he first came up the stairs he ran over to where he put the milk and cookie out for Santa the night before and noticed part of the cookie eaten and that made him really excited. Brandon's big presents this year was a Playmobil Fire Station and Ambulance form my parents, a Jake And the Neverland Bucky pirate ship from Sean's parents, a Jake Tiki House from us, a Batman Helicopter and house.  He loved every one of his presents.

Olivia on the other hand, liked her presents but was more interested in playing with the Christmas bows than opening her presents although she gave it a whirl.  Big brother was luckily around to help her out.  Sean gave me my Iphone 5s for Christmas (I got it early because I was able to trade in my phone and get $120 credit).  I gave Sean the Apple TV which integrates all our Apple products to the TV screen and plays Netflix and other apps (very nice to have).  I got a bunch of clothes and Ugg boots from my parents for Christmas.  Everyone loved the calendars I made this year and the foot print cookie plates. It was a very fun Christmas, just sad that we had to work the next day and leave in the evening on Christmas day.
Christmas morning and so happy!
