Camping with the Mowery's at Champoeg park

Our good friends the Mowerys decided to go camping in August and I decided to look for a camping spot and just happened to find one next to them in April.  They had camped at Champoeg before and liked how close it was to our houses, that it had bike paths, was quiet, and had a fun nature ranger station.  We decided to only go for a night since it was so close.  Before we left, I was able to sneak away in the morning to go to the Street of Dreams with my mom in Wilsonville (our tradition).  They had several really nice houses this year although they were all on top of each other.  I got back and we finished packing up and headed out to the campsite.

We got to the campsite when we could check in around 4:00 PM.  It was warm but not super hot which was nice.  The kids and Lulu were excited to go camping-this was Lulu's first camping adventure.  It also was a lot easier to pack only for 1 night!  We set up tent and the kids were excited to see the Mowerys arrive and played with them at the campsite for a bit.  Brandon and Logan set up their tent together that they were planning on sleeping in all night.  Addie some how roped her way into sleep with Olivia in our tent.  The kids then went on a bike ride and I took Lulu on a walk.  There was a fun playground not far from our campground that they had fun playing at.

The 2 boy scouts made their tent!

Then everyone came back to the campsite and we had dinner.  It was nice because we were able to light a campfire (unlike in years past with the fire bans due to the dry summers).  The kids loved eating s'mores by the fire.  The kids played in the tent some and the adults hung out by the fire.  The kids were able to convince us to let them stay up a bit later than normal and we finally got them all to sleep by 10:30 PM.  Soon after that the adults went to bed after hanging out by the campfire as the kids were complaining we were being too loud.

The next morning the kids actually slept in pretty well.  We made breakfast and then the kids went back to the playground on their bikes.  We started to clean up campsite a bit and then headed over to the Ranger Station where the kids got to learn about owls from a ranger with an owl eye and dissect owl pellets (not my favorite!).  The kids had fun looking at all the bones and stuff in there though.  After that we headed back to camp and packed up and then the kids went on a bike ride with Taylor (who had his bike) to the old Butte General store where they had yummy Tillamook ice cream.  We all ended our fun camping trip with ice cream and then headed back home.  It was a fun camping trip.

The kids got to spend a week with my parents and Sean's parents while Sean and I worked during the week.  We did get a Saturday and part of a Sunday to ourselves before we picked up the kids.  It was so nice to be able to come back home from work and not have to worry about picking kids up from camps!  Sean and I had fun going out to dinner, doing happy hour, going to our winery, going bowling and hanging out with our friends, and going golfing.  I got to use my Portland Photography class downtown and had a blast learning how to use my camera and taking pictures of downtown Portland.  The kids did great while we were gone and had fun spending time with their grandparents.  They went to Enchanted Forest with my mom and hung out with Rachel and Jasper one day.  They got to go camping with Sean's parents and do a fun Ninja Warrior obstacle course.  Lulu was so happy when the kids came home though and it was cute to see how much she missed them.  She definitely did not like not having them around.

Golfing!  So much fun!
