Ringing in 2015!

Sean and I had the entire week after Christmas off this year which was so nice!  We had plans to go meet our good friends, the Mowery's at Eagle Crest, which is near Redmond in Central Oregon this year but unfortunately their son Logan came down with the flu the day before we were going to leave to meet them out there.  We were going to be in Eagle Crest for 3 nights over New's Year Eve.  We quickly changed our plans to do a quick two night trip to the coast and spent New Year's Eve in Portland.  We went to our good friend Rosie and Thomas' house for a yummy salmon and fondue dinner and then came home and rang in the New Year with our good friend Brendan.  Sean, Brendan, and I made it to midnight and I did bake some yummy chocolate cookies and we drank some very yummy Pinot Noir from Four Graces that we had been saving for a special occasion.  It was a very fun New Year's.

We went over to our good friend Brendan and Sara's house to watch the Ducks play in the Rose Bowl.  They dominated Florida State and it was a lot of fun to watch the game with friends.  Unfortunately, the Ducks lost two weeks later in the National Title game to Ohio State.

Happy Duck family

We headed to Lincoln City on January 2nd for two nights at a beautiful condo right overlooking the ocean.  We loved the proximity to the beach and to town.  Our condo had a beautiful balcony that overlooked the ocean and a hot tub on the balcony.  It was so nice to be able to relax out on the hot tub and watch the waves and the stars.  We got into Lincoln City on the first day at around 1:30 and checked in and then went and got some lunch at this fun little bar and grill.  We had yummy chowder with sandwiches and the kids had chicken strips.  Then we went to a fun little Christmas Shop that has Christmas ornaments and decorations year round.  I let Brandon pick out an ornament for the tree and he picked out this cute "three little pigs" ornament.  We also went to a yummy local candy shop that had awesome huge Carmel apples.  Then Brandon really wanted to go to the beach so him and I went to the beach near the condo and Sean and Olivia went to the store to get groceries.  We ended up eating dinner at home that night and the kids went to bed pretty early because they both did not nap that long and Sean and I enjoyed some fun drinks in the hot tub together.

So much fun on the beach!

Brandon loved the ocean this time.  He could have spent his entire time down at the beach.
The next day the kids slept in pretty late and slept good together in the same room.  They immediately rushed out to the balcony to look at the ocean.  They were eager to get out on the beach.  We ate a yummy breakfast of eggs, sausage, and hash browns and I made a Starbucks run and then we headed down to the beach.  It was a beautiful partially sunny day with no wind and about 50 degrees.  It was warmer at the beach than it was in Portland!  We went down to the beach near our condo and spent a good hour and a half down there playing in the sand and the ocean.  Then the kids came back up got baths and had lunch and took a long nap.  They then got up and we went back down to the ocean to play some more before dinner and then drove down to Depoe Bay to the Sea Hag, one of our favorite seafood restaurants in the area.  The kids had a lot of fun eating at a restaurant although it was exhausting for Sean and I because Olivia hates to sit still and hates sitting in high chairs now.  We came back to the condo and unfortunately the kids would not go to bed.  Olivia kept waking up every time we put her in her pack n play and Brandon would not go to sleep.  We ended up going to bed very late and then getting up very early due to Olivia waking up at 6:30 AM.

We had so much at the beach that we promised Brandon we would back soon again, probably in the spring.  On our way out we bought some fresh seafood at a stand in Lincoln City and had some really yummy Petrale Sole (a very mild white fish) and clams for dinner.  We sad our vacation was over and we had to head back to reality and work!
