January 2020 fun!

I normally dread the month of January as it is so dark and dreary and rainy here and the fun of the holidays is over but this January was actually pretty fun and went by really fast!  Olivia finished her indoor soccer season with her soccer buddies from the fall.  She improved a lot and had a lot of fun playing with her friends.  After the last game, we went to the mall and I let Olivia get her ears pierced!  She used her Christmas gift card from Claire's and some of her own money.  She was so brave when she got them pierced and didn't cry at all.  It helped also that Claire's had two employees working so she had them done at the same time.  Afterwards we picked out some fun earrings for her to get to change into once her ears have healed.  She came home and surprised Sean and Brandon with her new earrings.  She had been bagging since last summer and was so excited to have her ears pieced.  Also a fun note I got my ears pieced as well at Clarie's but had to wait until I was 11 to do so (benefits of being the oldest!).

Olivia had fun going to several birthday parties in January including a laser tag party for my good friend Rosie's twins and a tumbling face painting party to celebrate her friend Avery.  She lost her second front tooth after being uneven for about a month.  I straightened her hair for a week and she looked so old. We enjoyed hot chocolate and prayed for snow (but it never came) and she got to have dinner at her favorite restaurant-Old Market Pub.  I also watched Olivia's gymnastics several times in January.  It was amazing seeing her improvement and I did get to see her back hip circle she had been practicing so hard on the bars.  She also started basketball this month through the YMCA with her good friend Avery's dad coaching their team which was a lot of fun!

Basketball started!
Brandon continued to have basketball practices on Tuesdays and Thursdays and games on Saturdays. His team improved so much.  He really enjoyed playing basketball.  He also enjoyed hot chocolate from our fun hot chocolate kit.  I officially took over at the den master of our Wolves Den as Daren's son Matthew decided not to continue with Cub Scouts any more.  We had a fun Cub Scouts den meeting at our house where we did the Bear Necessities requirement and the boys built a tent, made trail mix, and learned how to be prepared when camping and hiking.  We ended the month with Brandon's third grade music performance.  The theme was Winter and the kids all sang really cute songs about winter and got to use musical instruments and dance.
