Pomerleau Family Blog: My 39th Quarantine Birthday

My birthday fell on a Saturday this year. As everything was closed except for golf courses (where you could safely socially distance) I decided it would be fun to go golfing with Brooke (something we hadn't done together since before we had kids). It was also Mother's Day weekend so a nice way for Brooke to get and away from our kids who have been around us non-stop for a few hours. We booked a tee time for early afternoon as that was all that was left and my parents were coming to celebrate my birthday and to see us for the first time since COVID hit in the mid afternoon. Brooke and I decided to go to Chelahem Glenn Golf course in Newberg which is a nice newer golf course and not super spendy. We decided to do 9 holes too since we hadn't golfed in a while. Of course it happened to be super hot on my birthday and even hit 90 while we were on the course. We walked it with push carts. I even played pretty decently and was hitting well towards the end of the day. It was really nice to get some adult time and some exercise not be around kids for a few hours.

After I was done golfing, my parents came to celebrate my birthday. My dad surprised me and came too with Pumpkin. It was so so so nice to see them after 2 long months! My mom brought a very cute carrot cake (my favorite) and we went on a fun walk in our neighborhood and showed them Sunrise Park. I got to open up presents and got several fun pieces of clothing that my mom and I had gotten on our Nordstroms online virtual shopping together. We got yummy Pastini's to go and it was just a very fun night. I was sad everyone had to go after my party but knew it was for the best. We stayed outside the entire time in our backyard and were very careful with masks. I got lots of sweet birthday texts and calls from a lot of people too so that was very nice.
