Olivia'a 21 months old!

Dear Olivia,                                                                                 April 12, 2015

You are 21 months old now.  I cannot believe how fast time has gone.  It seems like I just have blinked and you are now a real little girl and not a baby, who talks and walks and has a mind of her own!  Speaking of mind, you are now talking up a storm!  In the last 3 months you have gone from saying one to two words together to just recently been able to say four and even five word sentences (something that your brother was doing well after two!).  Your favorite saying is "I want to do that," or "I do that."  You use pronouns now and use them well and seem to know what they mean.  You have a stubborn streak with you and an independent streak in you.  You want to do things on your own and something your own way.  You are getting more and more independent and express it various ways from wanting to choose your clothes in the morning, to "helping" mommy put your clothes on, you love taking your shoes and socks off in the car.  You have even learned how to put your own socks yourself.

You are still quite skinny and have grown tall. I don't know how tall you are since they haven't measured you height wise since you were 18 months months old and you do not have another doctor appointment until you are 2.  You did just recently go to the doctor since you had a bad cold (you ended up with an ear infection and possibly a sinus infection) and you were 24 lbs 4 ounces.  You are still fitting very well into 18 month clothes although I have just started putting you in 24 month PJs since your footie Jammie's were getting to small in the foot.  You are still wearing size 6 shoes now too and are in size 4 diapers as well.  I am hoping that you will fit into the 24 month clothes I got you for the summer!

In the last 3 months as your language has usage has exploded, you have grown to love books and reading.  You enjoy reading your 3-4 stories with me every night before bed. Your favorite stories are "Pat the Bunny" and "Brown Bear, Brown Bear What Do You See."  You love animals especially dogs.  You get so excited when you see a dog.  You are more adventurous than your brother with trying new food and you enjoy spicy food and especially meat and bacon!  You also love pizza.  While you try more new food than you brother, you do tend to eat quite a bit less than your brother.  There are some days you don't much at all.  You still do like to nurse and we have gotten you down to nursing twice a day (at morning and at night).  We put away all of your bottles as you stopped wanting to take them at daycare.  You still do not love cow's milk but will drink portions of it but did not guzzle it like your brother did.

Speaking of your bother, you and him have gotten more close.  Since you can talk and communicate now, you and Brandon can play more together.  For the most part, you guys play well together although there are some times when you want what he wants and he wants what you want and then you guys fight.  You also have a temper some times and love to screech when you things are not going your way.  You love playing with your baby dolls and putting them in and out of your doll's high chair and stroller.  You also love playing with your baby doll's shopping cart and your toy kitchen.  You love wrapping your baby doll in a blanket to put "baby to night night."

Speaking of night, night, this last month you have not been sleeping very well.  You will go through spurts of sleeping well and not waking up during the night and then you will be restless and sometimes wake up several times a night and have problems going back to sleep.  You will sometimes cry and cry and not put yourself back to sleep.  We will have to rock you back to sleep or rub your back in your room and stay with you until you fall back asleep.  During the last month though you were sick quite often and also got your 4 incisor teeth.  This made you quite irritable and affected your sleep.

I am excited for the next months as you continue to grow.  I cannot believe you will be two in less than 3 months.  Two seems so old!
