St. Patrick's day and a fun trip to the coast in the middle of March

Sean and I took a long weekend and took the kids to the beach in the middle of March.  The kids love the beach and have been begging to go for months.  We went to Lincoln City and stayed at vacation rental I found on VRBO.  It was the nicest vacation home we have every stayed at with the most beautiful views of the ocean with huge windows in the living room and ocean views all around.  We drove down Friday afternoon and stayed through Monday morning.  The first night we arrived in the early evening and unpacked and then headed to the ocean since the kids were so excited to see it!  Then we went and had a yummy dinner at a restaurant just down the street called Pier 101 that carries Rusty brewing beer, which is a yummy local brewery.  We had some yummy seafood and had some great tastings of the local beer.  We also got to come home and watch the Ducks advance in the NCCA tournament to the sweet 16.

The next day my parents came for the day with Pumpkin.  The kids were so excited to see them!  We went immediately down to the ocean and despite the forecast stating it was going to be terrible weather, it was actually not that bad at all and did not rain all day!  Our house had a hot tub which both kids love (they discovered their love for hot tubs at our Sun River house last year).  The hot tub had an awesome view of the ocean as well.  We went out to a yummy dinner with my parents in Lincoln City at Kylos and then they headed back to Corvallis.

The beautiful Oregon coast just outside our beach house
On Sunday, we woke up to a very rainy and windy and stormy day.  It was so windy and stormy, that there was a high tide warning most of the day and the beach was completely washed away.  We drove the 25 minute drive down to Newport and went to the Oregon Coast Aquarium.  It had been several years (maybe a few decades) since I had been to the Aquarium but I was excited to go since it is award winning and one of the top aquariums in the nation.  The aquarium had a neat ship wreck display going on.  The kids loved seeing all the sea life and Brandon was really into learning about all that the aquarium had to offer.  He loved learning about the different sea creatures.  My favorite display was the shark tunnel which was a tunnel full of sharks so you can watch sharks below you, above you, and on the sides.  It was really neat to watch.  The kids loved the aquarium so much that Brandon begged to go back the next time we are in Lincoln City.  Although its pricey I think we may have to agree to it!

Oregon Coast aquarium time!  Love the fishes!

The kids were bummed that we could not go down to the beach due to the storm when we got back but we had a fun day snuggling in and playing games and hot tubing.  I even got to go shopping at my favorite Outlet stores and scored some awesome deals for coats for the kids, Sean and I.  We had some yummy Mexican food for dinner.  The next morning we were sad to leave but Sean had to get back as he was working the second half of the day.

St. Patrick's day fell on a Thursday and was the Thursday after we got back from our beach trip.  The kiddos did not have school that day as my mom was taking care of them that day but I got some realy cute photos of the kiddos in their St. Patrick's gear.  I also made a yummy Lamb's stew in the crock pot that day for dinner that night and Sean and I celebrated with a yummy microbrew!
