Portland Women's March

So the Washington DC huge Women’s March happened on January 21st and Sean and I debated about whether or not go to the Portland one in downtown Portland or to go to a smaller sister March for Yamhill County in McMinnville.  We were heading to Yamhill and then decided last minute to go to downtown Portland to the March after hearing about it being a peaceful and safe environment down there.  We were so happy we chose to participate in the largest march ever in Oregon with an estimated of over 100,000 marching in downtown Portland.  We had to park and hike to the Max Station as all the parking spots were taken and then take the Max and walk a bunch just to get to the march but we made it and we marched in freezing cold and wet weather for about 30 minutes before leaving an atmosphere that made me feel better about our country than I had felt for months.  The feeling of the march was of hope and made me hope that we would all aspire and not allow evil and fear run our lives.  I had been so disheartened after Hillary lost that this was the first time that I felt any sort of glimmer of hope for our country.  It felt so good to be around people who thought and felt and were as just as passionate as I was.  It also felt so good that my husband willingly came and supported not just me but Olivia in the march and that we made it a whole family affair.  We ended up participating in the largest march in US history.

After the march we left the cold and wet rain and went to Henry’s and got a snack and a Bloody Mary and then began the long and cold journey back to our car and our house.  We got home feeling empowered like we had made a difference and it was really cool to watch the news about the march.
