Olivia's 4th birthday party

We had Olivia's 4th birthday party this year two days after her birthday on July 8th.  We invited her entire class from Jr. Kindergarten at Rocking Horse and our good friends the Mowery's and the Cullimore's.  All of Olivia's good friends from Rocking Horse were able to come: her bestie Lauren, Kennedy, Adelaide, James, Evan, and Felix.  Olivia's good friend Savannah was going to come but at the last minute her mom had to work so she came and hung out before the party.  Olivia woke up the morning of her party pretty late.  She seemed a bit lethargic but I didn't think anything of it.  She was not very hungry and hardly ate any breakfast.  She seemed a bit warm so I took her temperature and she had a fever of 100 degrees.  She also complained her stomach hurt.  Sean had a stomach issue thing about 5 days ago so was not sure if it was part of it or not.  I gave her some Tylenol and she perked up when her friend Savannah came over.

Olivia wanted to do a rainbow unicorn themed birthday party.  She has been super into unicorns for about the last 9 months.  She loves horses too of all kinds.  She wore her cute birthday outfit from Etsy that had her name on the shirt and the number 4 and a cute matching skirt.  We also got a cute Birthday card from Etsy put together that had a photo of her riding a pony.  I decided to do the party (despite all the hard work form last year) at our house.  It was supposed to be warm and the kids had so much fun swimming in our baby pools and on the playground that I thought it would be fun to do that one more year.  I also incorporated water balloons this time although Logan and Brandon went crazy with them more than the Olivia and her friends.  I got the sand table out for the little kids as several of Olivia's friends brought younger siblings.

Last year I made way too much food and we ended up having tons of leftovers that I didn't even know what to do with all of it.  I also spent hours the night before and the day of the party cooking and preparing the food.  This year I kept it simple and decided on a rainbow fruit tray with different colored fruit, rice crispy treats with sprinkles that Olivia helped me make, pirate booty, and rainbow gold fish.  I also did strawberry lemonade for the kids and we had beer and Sangria for the adults.  I made Funfetti cupcakes and frosting from scratch and then Olivia loves ice-cream so we had a ice-cream sundae bar with all sorts of yummy candy toppings.

The party started at 2:30 PM and most people came about 15-20 minutes late which was awesome as I was still frosting the cupcakes.  Olivia was still not feeling the greatest but she was happy and excited to see her friends.  The kids loved playing outside and the pool.  Everyone had a lot of fun playing outside and then we had cupcakes and ice-cream and sang Happy Birthday to Olivia.  Olivia ate some of her ice-cream but was more excited for the candy toppings.  After this, Olivia was super excited to open up her presents!  She got so many cute presents from her friend and it was cute how each of her friends were so excited to give her their present.

After we finished with presents, we got out the unicorn Piñata out and the kids were so excited to hit the Piñata with a bat and get some candy.  The piñata lasted quite a while and everyone got a turn at hitting it even the little siblings of Olivia's friends which was cute.  Finally the big boys broke open the piñata and the kids had a bunch of fun going after the candy.  It was the end of a very fun party.  This next year though I really do think we might have the party somewhere other than our house!  So hard to clean up and prepare although Olivia had so much fun showing her friends our house and her room.

Hitting the piñata-she hit it pretty good
