Pomerleau Family Blog: Brandon's 10th birthday party!

Brandon turned 10 on the Wednesday after Thanksgiving. I felt bad as the coronavirus cases were very high so they were not recommending more than two or three households getting together. We had planned a small birthday party with 3 other households (2 of which he interacted with already at his tutor) and a birthday driveway party for a few other friends to visit. On his actual birthday, I surprised Brandon with a fun balloon birthday bouquet. Brandon got to have a fun celebration at his tutor's house and we brought donuts for treats. Everyone sang Happy Birthday to him and he felt really special. I made Brandon a yellow cake with chocolate frosting which he requested. We waited until Sean came home and he got to open up his presents. Some of his favorite presents was a nerf gun from his sister, a trip to Top Golf and a new golf club, and he got Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity a few Zelda like game. He got to have his favorite sushi for dinner too!

We had a small group of Brandon's close friends over the Saturday after his real birthday. We kept it to Colton and Riley who are twins and have been Brandon's close friends since Kindergarten, Logan (who we were already hanging out with), and John our neighbor down the street who was in the same tutoring pod. We felt like keeping the interaction to only one family that we did not already hang out with kept the exposure levels down low. We also decided to have a lot of the birthday party in the garage with the door open and had the boys wear masks inside the whole time. Brandon had one of his friends, Matthew, come before his party that he wanted to invite but we didn't want to have too many kids from different families there for a birthday party parade. The other two kids we invited for the birthday parade weren't able to make it. It was a fun way to start his birthday. His friend Matthew hid his gift card in a bunch of random food, a silly way to find his present!

Brandon was excited to see his friends. We set up a fun nerf gun party the only problem was that people forgot to bring their nerf guns but we had lots of extras luckily. We started off the party with nerf target shooting in the garage. Then they had fun playing with Brandon's new pop-a-shot basketball game he got from CiCi and Baba. They went out on the trampoline for a bit and then came inside and we had a very fun nerf gun fight. After that it was a fun Smash Bros tournament followed by a yummy ice-cream cake by Dairy Queen! Brandon got to open up his presents and then they had a piñata. It was a fun quarantine 10th birthday and I can't believe I have a 10 year old now! We made the most of what we could having to be inside so much but got lucky with a beautiful bright cold sunny day!
