Christmas activities

This year there was a lot less Christmas activities that were open as most of the state was still shut down due to COVID.  There was a spike in cases after Halloween and Thanksgiving so it was recommended to not intermingle amongst family members.  There were also newer more contagious strains of coronavirus that were making there way to the United States.  I wanted to make Christmas still special and get in the Christmas mood and was able to get tickets at Lightopia which were drive by lights near the Hillsboro Stadium.

Olivia had a blast making a gingerbread house.  She decorated it so nicely and I swear it was her best one yet.  The kids had a fun Christmas party at their tutoring pod.  They got to decorate cookies and bought little presents for each other.  Teddy and Lulu even got in the holiday spirit and Olivia had a fun photo shoot with them near the Christmas tree.  It was Teddy's first Christmas and we were happy that he didn't try to "climb" the tree!

So much fun making her gingerbread house!

I took the week leading up to Christmas off from work and the kids and I went down to Corvallis for the first three days of Christmas break.  The kids were so excited to see CiCi and Baba and we stayed at the cute Airbnb barn that we stayed at in October.  We had a lot of fun hiking at the farm and then we got to celebrate Christmas early with CiCi and Baba.  The kids loved opening up their presents-Olivia got American girl doll dogs (Teddy and Lulu's babies) and a cute little dog house for them to hang out in and Brandon got a fun Mario Lego Set.  We got to eat a yummy outdoor Pastini's dinner on CiCi and Baba's front porch. It was fun that we were able to manage to spend time all together as a family even during the crazy pandemic.

Olivia found a newt on our hike!

Christmas visit COVID style

We headed back home and spent the next day down in McMinnville decorating Christmas cookies with Rachel's family.  We also brought Jasper and Juniper's Christmas presents and it was really fun to watch them open up their presents. They got very excited.  We got Jasper a fun Jurassic World dinosaur and Juniper a baby doll.

After spending time with Rachel's family we traveled back home and had a quick dinner with Sean and then headed to the drive thru Zoo Lights.  It was quite an ordeal getting the Zoo Light tickets and I had to stay up until 1:30 AM to get them as the website kept timing out.  I wanted to make sure we were not late after all that effort!  I was able to order an elephant ear and cotton candy with the zoo light tickets that we were able to enjoy in the car.  The Zoo Lights were great and they put us in the Christmas spirit.  It was nice not freezing outside too!

Elephant ear time and it got in a shorter line to get into the zoo!

Cotton Candy!
