Olivia 15 months

I am quite a bit behind in my blogging.  I wanted to make sure I got to blogging about Olivia's changes in the last 3 months since I last blogged when she turned one.  A fun part of parenting is watching how different (and sometimes the same) my two kids are as they continue to grow.  I know almost every blog I talk about how much Olivia has changed but really the difference from 12 months to 15 months was astonishing.  Olivia is now saying close to 60 different words.  She can name all the parts of her body including: eyes, hair, ears, nose, mouth, teeth, head, tummy.  She is now saying 2-3 word sentences like "I want," "that's mine!" "Give to me" She can recognize various animals and say the sounds they make like "Meow" for a cat and "ruff ruff" for a dog.  She tries to say Brandon's name and can sort of say "brother."  Her vocabulary is vast and seems to be expanding each day.  She is like a little soaking sponge.

Physically, at her 15 month check up she was 22 lbs and almost 31 inches tall.  She was in the 55% in both height and weight.  She is wearing mainly 12 month clothes although they are getting small on her and we are transitioning her to 18 month clothes and 12-18 month clothes.  She enjoys food but not as much as her brother did at this age as he was more adventurous it seems with his food choices. She likes pasta, pancakes, corn, peanut butter and jelly, and yogurt.  She still will not drink milk by itself.  Olivia still loves to nurse.  I have cut her down to nursing/getting the bottle 3 times a day.  She does not seem to want to give that up.  At this age, Brandon had been completely weaned as he weaned himself.  Olivia was a late teether and only had 4 teeth at 12 months.  In the last 3 months she got all the rest of her teeth except for her final four canines.  This made for some quite unpleasant nights as the teething seemed to bother her the most at night.  She was waking up quite often for several weeks while she worked through the teeth pain.  Poor thing, its rough getting that much teeth including your molars in such a short period of time!  Olivia is such an active little girl.  Way more active than Brandon.  She is constantly climbing and moving and running.  She was running fast at just twelve months.  She is curious and loves to get into whatever she can get into which means often times climbing on top of things to get to toys and things she probably shouldn't get to.

Olivia is a pretty independent girl.  She loves to play with toys, much more than her brother did.  She can keep herself entertained for quite a while just playing by herself with her toys (something that her brother tends to struggle with).  She can be quite loud though when she wants something or needs something and lets her voice be heard.  Her hair has continued to stay red and I like to say that matches her sometimes fiery personality.  She still does not have a ton of hair and it is curly.  Her eyes have stayed a bluish/gray and she has very fair skin.  Olivia loves to do whatever her big brother is doing.  If he is playing with something she loves to join in and play.  Her brother for the most part is now liking to play with her and they get a long pretty well.  He calls her "Robin" when he is "Batman," they are pals.  Sometimes though Olivia can push her brother buttons and she knows how to now.  She loves demanding the toys that he has although her brother does the same likewise.  It is really fun to watch their relationship grow and evolve as they get older.  Brandon is a great older brother and actually has a quite a bit of patience with her.  He is also very gentle with her and rarely hits her or hurts her.

Such a good big brother!
In October, Olivia got to move to the wobbler/toddler room at her school from the baby room.  She is really enjoying her new teacher Dora and is in a classroom with three other kids who are right around her age.  They get to go outside each day and I am told that Olivia loves her time outside.  I am also told that she is constantly climbing on everything she can get into.  She was climbing so much at home that I got her a slide that she can climb in hopes of pushing her into something safe to climb.  Olivia loves to dance.  She loves music, much more than Brandon seemed to.  Her favorite thing to do is to push her Elephant Popping toy that makes music and dance to it.  She also loves her zebra bouncing toy that she can climb onto and bounce and it lights up and makes music.  Olivia seems musically inclined.  Looking back at this photos from the last three months I am sad because I can see how much Olivia really has changed, she is starting to look more and more like a little girl and less and less like a baby.  But I cherish the fun times to come as she begins to talk more and interact with us even more.

Such a pretty Ariel!
