Brandon's 7th Birthday

Brandon's 7th birthday fell on a Saturday this year so he got to have his birthday party on his actual real birthday.  The day before, Friday both of my parents came up to Portland as my mom was flying out to Berkeley on Saturday to take care of Sierra for a couple weeks.  Brandon celebrated his birthday at school with cupcakes on Friday and then my parents got to celebrate with Brandon and took him out to frozen yogurt after school.  Brandon got to open up his present from my parents-a fun PlayMobile Survivor set and then my Dad was awesome and put it together (it was quite intricate).  I got to take Pumpkin on a fun run as they brought her up for the day.

Brandon woke up in a very good mood and CiCi had stayed over the night before so she was still around.  We opened up Brandon's birthday presents from the family in the morning before he had a basketball game.  Some of his highlight presents included: coupons from Daddy to play Minecraft and other fun video games, a remote control all-terrain car, a few Beanie boos, a Minecraft set, some cool dragons, and a new blue Trek Bike.  Brandon loved all of his presents.  After we opened presents we had to rush off to Brandon's basketball game as he had basketball team pictures.  Brandon had a fun basketball game and then on the way home we got donuts (his choice!) at a little donut shop near our house.

After Brandon's basketball game, I ran off to Lamb's bakery to pick up Brandon's birthday cake.  This year he chose to have a Minecraft themed birthday party.  Brandon has been into Pokemon and Minecraft all year.  Lamb's made an awesome birthday cake for Brandon!  He chose to have a chocolate chip birthday cake with fudge icing and it was super yummy.  I got back home and we headed off to the Sherwood YMCA where he was having a pool party with all of his friends.  We got to rent out the entire pool and Brandon had most of his guests come this time-we ended up with 14 boys at his party, which is awesome considering it is a busy time of year with the holidays.  We invited mostly people from his class and his soccer team that went to his school.

Birthday cake-it was perfect!

The first part of the party was in the pool.  The kids arrived in the activity room and put their presents and stuff in there and then headed to the pool where they got to swim for the entire hour.  I took some photos and then I got into the pool with the kids.  The YMCA has a fun water slide and water fountains along with tons of water toys and floats.  The kids got the entire pool to themselves and had a blast.  Olivia had a ton of fun playing with Daddy and Addie.  Brandon had a ton of fun playing water football, going down the slides, and just being silly with all of his friends.

After the pool part, the kids got dressed and then got to go inside to the fun activity room that they have which had a ton of toys in it that the kids got to play with.  We had the activity room for another hour.  It was fun because we got to decorate the room too.  We had cake and ice-cream, everyone loved Brandon's cake and we of course sang happy birthday.  Then Brandon got to open up presents from all of his guests.  He got some really nice presents-a lot of Minecraft lego sets and Pokemon stuff, his guests knew him well!  Then we did a piñata.  I couldn't find an actual Minecraft piñata since it is licensed but was able to find a fun huge dinosaur piñata at Wal-Mart that Brandon thought was cool.  I did little prizes in the piñata and a lot of candy.  After that it was time to go.  I helped the YMCA clean up and we hauled all of his presents into the car and then we were done.

After the party, we had planned to meet my sister Rachel and my nephew Jasper at Red Robin in Sherwood.  They got there just before us and got their name on the list and then we went to Target for a bit to kill time.  We then got in for dinner and had a great time at dinner.  Jasper was excited to spend time with Brandon on his birthday.  Brandon got more treats at Red Robin-a milkshake and ice cream sundae and every one sang happy birthday to him.  On the way back home to our house Brandon kept saying it was "the best birthday ever."  I have to say it was an awesome birthday and we were so happy so many people could come celebrate with him on his special day.  I can't believe my baby is 7!

A perfect way to end the evening with Rachel and Jasper!
