Pomerleau Family Blog: Halloween Party with Friends

So I love Halloween and the fall season. It is my favorite time of the year and we often have such beautiful falls in Oregon with the leaves turning a golden yellow and then red. We often times have cool mornings and then it warms up gradually and we have beautiful sunny days. I love Halloween from being a kid and the candy and the trick or treating aspect, but now as an adult I love the pumpkin patches, the Pumpkin spice lattes, the soccer games and going back to school, watching football. Anyways, the kids wanted to have another Halloween party since we had so much fun having one last year with just some of our good friends that we decided to have one this year.

We decided to have the party the weekend before Halloween as Halloween fell on a Tuesday this year. The day leading up the Halloween party was pretty full of Brandon's last soccer game and the fun party afterwards, going to Al's and getting pumpkins ready to carve, and then cleaning up the house and making some snacks and chili in the crock pot for the party. I made my Chex party mix with the pumpkin Autumn mix and Olivia helped me make cute Halloween cupcakes.

We invited our guests and their kids to wear costumes. Sean and I dressed up as cats. Olivia was a cat as well and said she was our baby cat. Brandon wore his Ninja costume. We ended up having quite a few more people over than we thought. We had our usual friends Rosie and Thomas and their kids Trevin and Mikayla. We had the Mowery family and all of their kids. Ben and his girlfriend Jaime and Brendan and Sara showed up for a while which was fun since we hadn't seen them in a while. We saw Sean's good friend Jesse who was up for the weekend. And my good friend Erin from my college years came with her daughter Vivian who is Olivia's age.

The day of the Halloween party we had beautiful sunny weather and it was super warm close to 70 degrees. The kids had a blast playing outside until it got dark. The adults had fun watching the Oregon football game inside and chatting and eating snacks. We ate dinner and then afterwards went back outside to do the pumpkin carving. Since the weather was so good, I set up our patio table outside in the grass so we could carve outside. It got dark early but we had camping lanterns and our outside light. Everyone had a lot of fun carving pumpkins. Sean and Brandon each made one and I made a kitty pumpkin with Olivia. Then we said goodbye to everyone. It was a really fun party!
