Thanksgiving 2017

This year we spent Thanksgiving down in Eugene with Sean's family and then Christmas down in Corvallis with my family.  Sean ended up taking a half day on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving and we headed down to Eugene right after Brandon finished school and after we picked Olivia up from her school.  We were all planning on running on the Thanksgiving Turkey trot in Eugene so we had to pick up our race registration packets on the way to Grammy and Papa's house.  We got to their house in time for dinner and had dinner and then got to bed.  We had to be at the race by 9:00 AM the next day but it was at a park only 10 minutes away from Sean's parents' house.

The next day we were up at 7:30 AM and got ready to race.  Sean's mom was coming with us to watch Olivia since Sean ran first in the 4 mile run and then Brandon and I ran about 10 minutes later in the 2 mile run.  Olivia was going to run at the end at the kids' race which was about 0.5 mile.  Thanksgiving day was a blustery, warm, wet day.  They were calling is a pineapple express effect and it was in the low 60s when we started the race (I wish I had shorts on!).  We saw Sean off and then Brandon and I had our race.  Brandon did awesome on his first race and was able to run most of the time.  He finished second in his age group for the race and I finished third despite slowing down for Brandon!  Sean also finished strong (I can't remember what place he had).  Brandon ended up running again for the kids' race and both him and Olivia did awesome.  It was a lot of fun and we already are planning our race next Thanksgiving in Corvallis.

Ready to race-Liv was wearing her Turkey hat she made at school

It was great to have our workout done by 10:30 AM on Thanksgiving day.  We got home and started working on getting the dinner ready.  We hung out at Sean's parents house and watched some movies and played some board games.  We discovered that everyone was really into Uno Attack and Connect 4 Launchers.  The kids also had fun coloring.  Later in the afternoon Sean's Grandma came over and his Aunt Mary Anne.  Then we ate a yummy traditional Thanksgiving dinner.  There were two turkeys-a smoked one and a regular one, Sean made some awesome garlic mashed potatoes, there was gravy, rolls, home made cranberry sauce, and a green bean casserole.  Everything was so good.  We were stuffed and went to bed early due to all the food and being up early for the race.  We also planned on getting up fairly early to go to Fred Meyer's Black Friday Sale the next morning.

The next day we got some good stuff for Christmas for the kids online and at Freddy's on Black Friday.  We also got tons of socks for Sean and I!  We played some more board games including having a Connect 4 Launchers tournament.  The kids had a blast coloring the new giant coloring pads we got at Freddy's along with a fun scented markers art kit.  We got dressed up in our Christmas gear and Grammy took some pictures of us outside in their backyard for our Christmas card.  We got some really cute ones.  Sean and I went out after the kids went to bed to get a drink with several of Sean's close friends from high school.

The next day was the Civil War game.  We ended up getting free tickets from Sean's godparents.  It had been raining all day but then cleared up right before the game.  We got to the game a little early and had a few drinks with Sean's godparents before leaving for the game.  We ended up watching half the game because the Ducks were leading 44 to 7 at half time.  We got back in time for dinner and then we had to start packing up because we were planning on leaving Eugene fairly early in the morning as Olivia had gymnastics at 12:00 PM.  The next day we got up basically and then left to go back to Portland.  We had such a fun Thanksgiving with lots of memories with Grammy and Papa!
