Fourth of July weekend

I took the kids down to my parents house in Corvallis for the weekend prior to Fourth of July to give Sean a weekend to himself (since he was left with the kids when I went to California in May).  The kids are always excited to go to CiCi and Baba's house and it is nice to come home to the familiar sights, sounds, and smells of Corvallis.  We also love to see Pumpkin and she is always excited to see us.  We went to Avery Park and played on the train and the recently renovated dino bones, and went to Otter Beach and swam.  Olivia loved going down the water slide and went down it over and over again.  Brandon was a much improved swimmer from his three sessions of swim lessons and was very comfortable in the water.  He was able to go down the slide over and over again by himself even though he could not touch the bottom at the end of the slide.  I took Pumpkin on a fun trail run in the off leash area in Walnut park.  She was a great running companion and was able to run for 3 miles with no problem!

Little 4th of July girl

We came back to Portland late in the day on Sunday July 3rd to get ready for our 4th of July party that we were having at our house.  Sean made pulled pork on the Traeger and everyone brought a side and we had a really fun 4th of July party with lots of fireworks at our house.  We have our good friends the Cullimores over with their twins who are two and the Wighams with their two year old, the Mowerys with their three kids, and then Ben and Jamie.  The kids loved the fireworks and we stayed up pretty late watching them and even saved some for next year.  The kids also loved playing in our nearly renovated backyard.  We even pulled out our fire pit and enjoyed the warmth and some smoores as it was actually quite chilly that day.  A very fun 4th of July and really our official start to the summer!
