Ten year anniversary celebration!

Sean and my ten year wedding anniversary happened this summer on July 29th 2016!  I can't believe its been ten years!  In some ways it just seems like it was yesterday when we got married but then it seems like it has been a long, long time ago in other ways when we look back and see how young we looked and all that we have accomplished since we got married.  When we got married, I was barely 25 and Sean was 24.  We were young adults just finding our way in life post college.  We learned a lot together and really "grew up" together.  We bought our first home in 2007, we lost jobs and changed jobs (three times for Sean) and (once for me) and went on some fun trips: San Francisco our first anniversary, to Seattle numerous times, to Utah, Sun River numerous times in the winter and summer, Puerto Vallarta, the Mexican Rivera Cruise, and skiing numerous times.  We had two babies and made our family complete.  We bought our new dream home in 2015.  Our oldest started kindergarten.  So much has happened with some heart break and a lot of love and happiness.  I truly feel so blessed to have Sean as my husband and my family as my family even if it is a crazy busy life at times.

Party time!

We had talked in the past about going on a big trip for our 10 year anniversary but with two small kids and with finances being a bit tight with us just buying a new house and a new car in 2015, we decided on going to the Oregon coast just the two of us for two nights.  My parents graciously offered to babysit the kids at our house so we could go.  The kids had fun with CiCi and Baba and Pumpkin!  We went to an "Adults only" hotel that was right on the beach in Lincoln City and had a beautiful view of the ocean from a Jacuzzi hot tub.  The staff knew it was our anniversary and left rose petals all over the room which was really cute.  It was really nice to be able to relax and just enjoy each other.  We left on Friday afternoon and stopped at Sokol Blosser winery where we became wine club members again and had some yummy wine tasting.  We then got to Lincoln City and went out to dinner at the Bay House where I got a three course meal in the bar and Sean got some clams that were outstanding.  We had some yummy dessert as well. We watched the sunset and then went back to the hotel and got a good night's sleep. I loved being able to wake up at 9:00 AM both days without having a kid in my bed blaring their I-pad.

We woke up and leisurely got ready and then went to a yummy breakfast at the Wild Flower Café one of our favorites.  They had the best French toast there.  We then went shopping at the Outlet Mall and had a lot of fun shopping without kids.  I got two dresses at the Ann Taylor Loft and got the kids some stuff too...couldn't resist.  Sean got some stuff at the Nike Store his favorite.  We went back to our hotel and then got ready to go on a hike.  We had researched hikes and decided on the Hart's Cove Trail which is only open from March to October.  It was classified as hard although some of the reviews stated it was more of a moderate hard.  It was 6.5 miles down to the cove through the wildflowers.  Sean and I thought since we regularly run 3-4 miles that the hike would be easy, but it ended up being quite difficult.  It was extremely steep down at the beginning of the hike which meant that it was extremely steep going back up on the way back.  It also didn't help we were rushing to be back in time for our dinner reservation at the Blackfish café was completely booked up.  The views on the hike were beautiful though and well worth the strenuous work.  There were views of the Pacific ocean and a beautiful wildflower field.

The view was well worth the arduous hike

We got back from the hike and went out to dinner at Blackfish.  Unfortunately, we were so worn out from the hike that we were not that hungry.  We got cocktails that were not very good.  We ended up ordering their claim chowder which is excellent and sharing clams.  We decided to go to Kylos for dessert and an after dinner cocktail (since we knew that Kylos has excellent drinks).  I had a yummy marionberry cobbler for dessert (my favorite).  We went to the casino after dinner to play some quarter slots and Sean won $125!  Whenever we go to a casino (which is really rare now a days with kids) and don't lose any money is a win for us.  We headed back to the hotel after about an hour at the casino as I could not stand the smoke in there any more.

Cheers to us!
Cheers to our amazing view
We woke up the next morning nice and late at 9:00 AM and packed up to go back home.  Before we left, we went out to breakfast at a little hole in the wall place called Nelscott Café which ended up taking forever to get seated but was very good and we were able to go on a fun walk on the beach while we waited.  We headed back home after breakfast and stopped off at Sokol Blosser and did a little wine tasting in the beautiful sun before heading home.  It was a wonderful anniversary weekend and so nice to have a weekend to ourselves without kids.  It was our first weekend just the two of us since Brandon was 1 in 2011 and it was so nice to celebrate us!

On our actual anniversary which was on a Friday after we got back we got off a little early and met for Happy Hour at Ancestry Brewery and had some yummy beer samplers.  We then ate dinner with the kids and went out to frozen yogurt with them afterwards to celebrate.  We topped off the evening by watching our wedding DVD with them which the kids loved.  It was a really happy day!
