Lincoln City beach trip in August

The last weekend in August we went to Lincoln City for a long weekend.  We left Friday afternoon after working a half day and stayed through Monday morning.  We got to the coast by the mid afternoon and checked out our new house that we were renting.  We liked it a lot-it had a hot tub, 3 bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms and a washer and dryer.  It was on the south side of town and close to Depoe Bay.  Once we got to Lincoln City, the kids wanted to immediately get to the beach so off we went.  After playing at the beach, we headed off to dinner at Road House 101 and then headed back home where we enjoyed some time in the hot tub and then headed to bed.  Sean's parents ended up showing up later that night as they were going to stay with us Friday and Saturday night.

The next morning we got up and had breakfast and then headed to the beach.  It was a bit cloudy but not super windy.  The kids had a blast looking for special shells and rocks with Grammy and digging in the sand.  We headed back home and the kids enjoyed some time in the hot tub and then Olivia had a quick nap.  We decided to have Sean and his dad make dinner of fresh clams and shrimp and Sean's mom and I took the kids to Depoe Bay to get some candy at the candy shop and then to go play at the beach.  We found a really nice beach at Depoe Bay not too far from our house.  Brandon had so much fun running through the waves looking for agates and unique rocks.  We also scored and found a hidden dug up rock collection when we were heading back.  We had an awesome fresh seafood dinner that night and then ended the night with some hot tubbing.  Both kids had a ton of fun in the hot tub and the Mermaid Barbies were brought back into the hot tub.

The next day we spent the morning at the beach with Grammy and Papa walking and searching for agates before they had to leave.  Then we came back to the house and rested and hot tubbed and then went out on a really fun hike at Drift Creek Falls.  The hike was 3.5 miles and the kids did great!  Olivia got a little tired towards the end and needed to go on Sean's shoulders but Brandon really did great.  I freaked out a bit as the end of the hike had a 1500 foot high up drawbridge that shook a little bit when you walked on it to see the waterfalls.  The hike was beautiful though and I was able to get across the drawbridge!  We finished the hike and decided on going to Sea Hag in Depoe Bay (one of my favorites) for dinner.  Sean and I split a Clam chowder bowl and Halibut dinner and then we all shared a Marionberry pie which was awesome.  It was a great way to end our trip.  We liked our vacation home so much we ended up booking it for 4 nights during Brandon's spring break in March!  We are excited to come back then.

It was a bit warmer and the kids were loving the ocean
