Lulu: the 1st weeks home in late August

We went to get Lulu on Monday August 27th.  We had to wait until Lulu was exactly 8 weeks old to pick her up.  We got everything all ready for Lulu and set up a puppy pen for her to have a place to retreat to when things got crazy in the family and she needed peace and quiet.  She had tons of puppy toys-I found a lot at Marshall's and baby toys from our consignment sale and puppy food.  The day that we picked up Lulu, Brandon had zoo camp and Olivia had daycare at Rocking Horse.  I dropped Brandon off at his zoo camp and then went to a claim nearby.  Then I picked him up early and we headed home and got ready to pick up Lulu.  Sean met us at the house and then we picked up Olivia.  We had to pick Lulu up by 5:00 PM.  We were so excited on our way down to get her.  We got the breeder's house and got to see her-she was so tiny!  We got a low down on our new baby and how to take care of her from the breeder and then were on our way 30 minutes later.  The breeder took a cute picture of us all together with our new puppy-Lulu!

We got home finally and Lulu did great and didn't go potty in the car and didn't get car sick!  We grabbed take out on the way home and got home at around 8:00 PM.  We took Lulu outside and she had so much fun playing in our grass.  We had a few accidents that night in the house but she settled right in and read stories with the kids and us on her first night.  She also went to bed in her crate at 11:00 PM and made it to 6:30 AM!  She went to bed with no problems!  The next day I did my beach body workout and Lulu was my little workout buddy.  Then we took Brandon to zoo camp and Olivia to daycare at Rocking Horse.  Lulu didn't like the car ride at first and wanted to cuddle in my lap.  We had the dog trainer come at noon and it was so helpful.  She looked at our set up and gave us some good suggestions.  Lulu and I went to get the kids and they were so excited to see her!  We got the kids a yummy treat at Sonic on our way back and then went outside in our backyard to enjoy the sunshine with our new puppy.

It was so cute watching Lulu be excited to see Sean when he got home from work.  Lulu got tired about the same time as the kids and loved going to sleep on their beds when they went to bed.  I would get her up for a potty break and then she would go to bed in her crate for the night.  I left Lulu on her own for a quick claim near the house and she did great on Wednesday.  Then I was home and on vacation for the next 5 days until the day after Labor Day.  Lulu did great all weekend and got used to our family fast.  We worked hard on the potty training and the nipping.  We had to take her outside every hour.  We got bells for our door so she could ring them and let us know when she needed to go potty.  I read that it was extremely important to socialize Lulu so we took her everywhere.
