Olivia's first days of kindergarten

Olivia was super excited for kindergarten to start as she watched big brother Brandon go to Alberta Rider for the past two years.  Towards the end of August she had "kinder camp" at the school for 3 hours where she got to meet all of the kindergarten teachers.  Then she had a fun kindergarten play date where she got to find out who her teacher was-Mrs. Borrelli (Brandon's kindergarten teacher).  Olivia was a little bummed because Mrs. Borrelli was out on maternity leave (she had her first baby in May) and she had Mrs. Foster (a grandmotherly teacher) for the first 6 weeks until Mrs. Borrelli came back from her leave.  Also a lot of her friends had Mrs. Madrietta and she liked Mrs. Madrietta's big personality (probably similar to Ms. Lincoln's).  Olivia started kindergarten soccer and there were 3 kids on her soccer team that were at Alberta Rider so that was fun for her.  Gymnastics and dance also started for Olivia-she had a full schedule of soccer practice one day a week on Wednesdays after her 1.5 dance class on Wednesdays and then gymnastics on Saturday morning followed by an hour soccer game.  All activities on the same 2 days but then we got them over!

So excited for her kinder camp day!

She had a great day at Camp Kindergarten!

Olivia stayed at Rocking Horse all the way through the week of after Labor Day as kindergarten didn't start until the Monday after Labor Day.  Her last day at Rocking Horse was bittersweet-she had gone there since she was 5 months old and it really was her home away from home.  I felt fortunate to have such a loving and learning environment that took such good care of her all these years.  But I was so happy to not have to pay for daycare any more!

We will miss this place that took care of both my babies for 6 years!
Happy and sad to leave her friends at school
Olivia was so excited to go to school on her first day of school.  She picked out her outfit the night before and we read a fun kindergarten book together before she went to bed.  We got some cute pictures before school and then the entire family took her school.  We walked Olivia in and then got to hang around and listen to a cute story "The Kissing Hand" and then Olivia gave us her "Kissing Hand." We hugged her and then she was ready for us to go-no tears at all!  She took the bus home on the first day of school and our baby sitter Rachel and I met her at the bus stop and she did great and had a great first day of school.  We are so proud of our baby girl on this big milestone.

So ready for kindergarten!

Her sign reads she is 44" tall, 5 years old, her teacher is Mrs. Borrelli, and when she grows up she wants to be a pilot
