Brandon's first few months in Kindergarten

Brandon's school Alberta Rider Elementary school had the kindergarteners a week later than the rest of school (a week after Labor Day weekend) so they could do the Kindergarten Connect and meet their teacher and get used to the school environment.  Brandon had a lot of fun meeting his teacher, Mrs. Borrelli and dropping off his supplies.  His first week of school went really well.  He seemed to adapt well and it helped that he had two built in friends from his soccer team team, Cruz and Kaiya.  He was eager to go to school every day and always wanted to be there early.  He seemed to enjoy his after school care teachers as well with the YMCA that came to his school.  Brandon goes to after school care at his school Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday and then my mom picks him up from school on Thursdays and I pick him up from the bus stop on Friday afternoon.

At the end of September Brandon had a Jog-A-Thon to raise money for his school.  He ran 16 laps or 1.6 miles and did great in the heat!  Sean went to the Jog-A-Thon and ran with him.  In the middle of October I went with Brandon's class to Baggenstos Family Farm to do for pumpkin patch fun.  Most of October it rained and the day of the field was not different from the rest of the month.  It was torrential down pouring.  There was not enough spots on the bus for the volunteers so I met them at the farm.  They ended up getting there a bit early and I just missed them as they went away on the tractor to the pumpkin field.  I ended up catching the next tractor with the next class and met him out there and then got the ride the tractor back to the farm with them.  They had some fun activities at the barn and then I got to help him get on the bus.  It was fun seeing Brandon's classmates.

I ended up signing up at the Parent Night for volunteering in Brandon's classroom.  Brandon's teacher had so many volunteers that signed up she ended up needing each of us to help up once a month which is perfect with my work schedule.  I help out on Thursdays from 12:00-1:30 PM and primarily help out during writing center time.  I end up helping out the kids at Brandon's table usually (his teacher put his table at my center when I volunteer).  I really enjoy seeing what Brandon is working on at school and meeting his friends.  It has been a fun first few months of kindergarten for Brandon, I am so thankful that we moved so he can be in the awesome school he is in and that he got such an awesome teacher in Mrs. Borrelli.
