Brandon's sixth birthday party

Brandon's actual birthday was on a Friday this year.  We ended up having his birthday party with his friends a day later.  On his actual birthday he went to school and got to open up a book in class and then his teacher got to read it.  I bought him a book about Pokemon which he enjoyed.  He then took the bus home and got to wear a crown that one of the kids' parents in his class made him for the day.  He then waited for Daddy to get home and we got to open up his birthday presents.  This year he got a bunch of Pokemon stuff to re-decorate his room (which was Thomas the Train from when he was little) including a bed set with a comforter, another spare sheet set and soft Pokemon blanket, a Picchu decorative pillow, and some Pokemon room decals to put up in his room.  He also got a Camper Lego set, lots of Pokemon cards, and a robot that move around.  We then let Brandon choose out where he wanted to eat out for his birthday and he chose Red Robin.  He got a yummy chocolate milkshake and cheeseburger and they gave him a birthday sundae and sang happy birthday to him.  He had a great day!

Brandon wanted to have his sixth birthday party at Safari Sam's again this year.  He had such a blast there last year that he wanted to do it again.  I was more than happy letting him have it there although it is a bit more expensive it ends up being way easier than having to have a bunch of kids over to our house and cleaning the house, making the food and then entertaining them in the dead of winter when its likely either rainy or snowy outside.  Safari Sam's has all the plates, decorations, pizza and soda for the kids so everything is taken care of.  All I had to do was bring whatever decorations we wanted, the cake, the Piñata that Brandon wanted, and some goodie bags for the kids.  The kids got play in the large indoor jungle gym and run around and have a blast.  There is also an indoor bounce house and arcade games for them to play with tokens at the end.  Brandon ended up choosing to have a Pokemon themed birthday party and we ordered a Pokemon themed ice cream cake from Dairy Queen.  We invited 10 of his friends and 7 were able to come (Logan, Andrew, John, Cullen, Riley, Colton, and Gavin which was a good turn out!  There was also 2 siblings of his friends (Addie and Grant) that were Olivia's age that she could play with.  This was the first birthday party that Brandon had where the kids definitely outnumbered the adults and more kids were just dropped off by their parents (a sign he's growing up!).

Daddy and Olivia at Brandon's party
We started off the party letting the kids do a free play in the indoor Jungle Gym area.  The kids had a blast running around and playing with each other.  They were all shouting and trying to find Brandon which was fun for him!  We then had the kids come into the private room we rented and have pizza and drinks.  Then we let them run around more at the Jungle Gym a bit.  Then we had cake and opened up presents.  The ice cream cake was a hit and Brandon got lots of fun presents including several lego sets, a beginning reader book, a Ninja turtle space ship, and some Pokemon stuff.  He was very happy with his presents.  The kids then went out to play a bit more and we got the Pinata (a Pomerleau family tradition) going in the little gym area they had.  We ended up not having a good place to hang it from so two adults held each side of the string and that worked well.  The kids loved running after the candy.  After that we gave the kids their tokens and they got to go play the arcade games which they all loved and then they went home.  It was a very fun 2.5 hour birthday party for Brandon and he had a blast!  He then got to spend the rest of the evening building his Star Wars lego set with Daddy which was a lot of fun!
