Pomerleau Family Blog: Fall kindergarten soccer session

We decided last summer to sign Brandon up for Fall kindergarten soccer. We figured he would like the exercise and it would be fun for him to meet other classmates before school started. We never thought that it would be such an awesome experience that it turned out to be. For one, Brandon started soccer practice the last week in August about two weeks before school started for the kindergarteners and he got to meet two kids in his class before school started so he had two built in friends already once school started! He also met several other kids that went to kindergarten at his school that he can see during recess but that just were not in his class. I went to Brandon's first soccer game just after I had my toe surgery and sat with my boot on and watched the game. He did awesome and scored 4 goals!

Soccer lasted until the end of October. Brandon had games on Saturdays and then practice on Tuesdays and Thursdays for one hour. He had a blast and loved his coach. Sean also assisted coaching his team and filled in his for Brandon's coach one week while he was out of town for work. Olivia enjoyed going to Brandon's practices and playing at Alberta Rider Elementary school. Brandon became particularly close with the coach's son Cruz, who is in his class, and his older sister Claire who is just one year older than them in first grade. He also was close to Kaiya who was also in his class at school. It was amazing to watch Brandon progress also in the two months since he started soccer. He was quite bigger than the other kids but also grew to be quite a fast runner who could keep up with the other kids. He always tried hard and had a very positive attitude for his teammates, often cheering them on. It was a very fun and successful soccer season and we look forward to many more!
