Celebrating my birthday and a trip to Corvallis in mid May

My real birthday fell on a Thursday this year.  There was beautiful weather on my birthday, it was in the high 80s so I got lucky there.  I had a birthday pedicure with champagne and then we headed to our winery Hawks View for a glass of my favorite White Rose wine.  After that we headed to Crazy Sushi in Sherwood which has the best sushi in town.  Brandon was super excited I picked his favorite Sushi restaurant for my birthday. We ended the night with yummy Baskin Robin's ice cream and the kids sang happy birthday to me.  I got some clothes, a new charging station for my iPhone, and a car holder for my iPhone, and a gift certificate for a photography class so I can learn how to use my fancy camera I got last year for my birthday.  It was a very fun 38th birthday.

We went to Corvallis the following weekend after my birthday which happened to be Mother's Day weekend.  Before we left we had a Cub Scout den meeting where the kids had fun making their own obstacles courses.  Then we headed down to Corvallis and got there in time for dinner.  Lulu and Pumpkin were so excited to see each other again and be reunited.

The next morning we were going to go on a hike near the Alsea River until we found out it was quite far away.  My Dad was not feeling well and was coughing and threw up a bit.  He was still not doing better and complained on chest pain so I was going to take him to the hospital but my mom came back and took him instead.  It turned out he had a minor heart attack and a blockage that they had to put in a stint in.  Obviously that put a damper on things but we still had fun taking both dogs to Peavey Arboretum.  Itw as a super warm day and the kids jumped into the lake and Lulu jumped in too.

Once we got back from our hike my mom came back from the hospital and we went out to dinner at Block 15 brewery.  Afterwards my mom and I went to visit my dad in the hospital.  He was doing ok but was pretty weak.  The next day was Mother's Day and Sean made my mom and I a really good Mother's Day strawberry French toast brunch with fresh strawberry sauce.  My sisters came down from McMinnville (Tory was visiting Rachel for the weekend) to see my Dad and to hang out for a bit as Tory had to fly that afternoon.  It was fun getting everyone together.  That afternoon we went to the park at my old school, Hoover and the cousins had a blast playing on the play structures together.  It was a very fun weekend and we were so happy to hear that my dad was doing really well after his stint was put in.  In fact he left the hospital the next day.
