Fun 3rd Annual Girls' weekend to the Coast

Olivia and I had our 3rd annual girls' weekend trip with Brooke and Addie the day after the girls' dance recital.  We went to Newport this year as the Kite festival was going on at Lincoln City and it was more expensive.  We also thought it would be fun to go back to our old stomping grounds that we used to frequent together from Corvallis.  Addie had a birthday party so we left around noon on Saturday.  We stopped in Corvallis for lunch and ate at Panera (another love that Brooke and I share together).  We got into Newport at around 2:30 PM and checked into our hotel which was super cool and had our room available early for us.  We stayed at the Best Western Plus at Agate Beach and they were right on Agate Beach.  We immediately headed for the beach and the girls had fun running around the beach together.

There was a free happy hour wine tasting at our hotel at 5:00 PM with free kids' drinks as well.  We had dinner reservations at 6:00 PM at Local Ocean Seafoods which my parents recommended so we had to hustle through our happy hour.  The girls liked their lemonade and snacks.  We ended up going to McDonalds as neither girls liked seafood.  The wait at McDonalds took forever so we were a little bit late but were still able to make our reservation.  I got the steamer clams and a yummy cocktail.  The restaurant was super good.  We got some cute photos of the girls in downtown Newport as well.

We got back to the hotel and the girls of course wanted to go swimming.  The girls got into their swim suits and had a blast swimming.  Brooke and I enjoyed the hot tub that was nearby to the pool and was kid friendly.  The girls chose their matching swim suits too.  After we went swimming we went and checked out the fire pit area which ended up being a lot of fun. Then it was close to 10 and the girls were getting tired so we were able to get them to bed.  Brooke and I were able to sneak out  to the additional lounge area and scrapbook out there for an hour until we also went to bed.

The next day the girls slept in until 8:00 AM which was nice.  We slowly got up and then headed down to our free hotel breakfast.  It was as sit down breakfast and really good.  The girls both of course had to order what each other was having but luckily both decided on pancakes.  After breakfast we headed back to the pool for one last swim before we had to check out.

After we finished swimming we packed up the car and checked out.  Then we headed to the Yakima Bay light house in Newport where they have excellent tidepools.  We lucked out that low tide was when we were planning on being at the tidepools.  Brooke had been there before to look at their tidepools and had commented on how good they were.  We had a blast jumping from rock to rock and looking at the tidepools.  Olivia slipped and fell and got wet and a bit upset for a while but then perked up later.  We even saw real live harbor seals sleeping on nearby rocks.

After the tidepools we headed north to Lincoln City to get some lunch and to do some shopping.  We got lunch at Subway and then headed to the outlet mall.  We bribed the girls with a Claire's treat if they behaved.  We were able to shop at the GAP, run into Under Armour which the boys really like, and then Brooke and I were able to go to Ann Taylor Loft and I bought some much needed shorts, some cute shirts, and a dress.  After that we took the girls to Claire's where they promptly picked out matching choker unicorn necklaces and a flip phone that has lip gloss.  After that we headed home and got home by 7:00 PM.  It was a fun and exhausting weekend.  I was sad I had to go back to work after being off for an entire week as well!

Also when we got home the next day Olivia lost her first tooth.  Ironically, Addie lost her first tooth the day before.  The girls are so in tuned with each other haha!
