Reflecting back on 2017

In 2018 we had a lot of fun.  Here were my top memories and photos of each month.

January:

We started off the year with a massive and record breaking snow storm where we got 11 inches of snow in one night!  The kids had fun playing in the snow although we ended up having to make up over a week of school!  We participated in our first ever march, when we walked in the Women's March in Portland in late January.  It was a powerful and wonderful experience for the whole family.  My sister Rachel and Jasper came to visit and we went down to Corvallis to spend time with them.  We also had a fun trip to OMSI.

Liv was not so sure about the snow
Brandon loved throwing snow balls!

CiCi came to help out during the epic snowstorm since I had to work and the kids didn't have school

We did the submarine tour at OMSI
In February we celebrated Valentine's Day with a lot of fun classroom parties.  Brandon saved up his money and got a Hatchanimal (a little interactive dragon that hatched from a egg).  Brandon played a lot of basketball doing a league at his school with games every Sunday.  We went bike riding whenever the weather was good enough to do so.

We beat the bad weather and went to Sky High to do some trampoline jumping
In March Brandon had outdoor soccer games.  We went to Lincoln City during Brandon's spring break for several days and rented a beach house.  We had a blast exploring the coast, eating yummy seafood that Sean cooked for us, going to Yaquina Bay Lighthouse, and exploring Newport.

In April we had a blast going to the Woodburn Tulip festival with the Mowery family.  Olivia loved going on her first horse ride.  Brandon started little league coach pitch baseball and baseball and soccer overlapped for a few weeks.  We went down to Eugene for Easter and had a blast hanging out with Grammy and Papa and going on a Easter egg hunt at their house.  Olivia has been doing dance class at her school and they had a really cute little recital for the parents.

In May, the weather improved dramatically and we had our first high 80 degree days.  We set up the pool in the backyard and the kids had a blast swimming and jumping into the pool from the trampoline in the backyard.  Brandon continued to have baseball games often times twice a week.  He did great and loved baseball.  We went to Corvallis for Memorial Day weekend and had a fun time hiking Mary's peak.  Brandon also learned how to ride without training wheels!

In July we started the month out with a trip right away for 4th of July holiday weekend.  We rented a beach house with Sean's entire family and spent a fun 3 nights at the Oregon Coast in Lincoln City.  We celebrated the 4th of July with the Mowery family and had a blast.  We then celebrated Olivia's 4th real birthday and then had a rainbow unicorn birthday party that weekend at our house.  Olivia loved having all her friends come.  Then we headed off to Sun River for a week and had a blast swimming, hiking, and biking.  We came back home and headed to Eugene the following weekend for Sean's good friend's Jesse's wedding.  My niece Sierra was also born in late July.

In August we had a month packed full of travel and activities.  We took the kids to Oak Parks Amusement park for the first time and the kids had a blast doing the rides.  Brooke and I took the girls to the coast for the weekend and had a fun weekend together.  We went camping together as a family for 3 days at Timothy Lake near Mt. Hood and then hustled back to Corvallis to watch a complete solar eclipse with my parents and my Uncle Carl.  Corvallis was in complete totality and it was amazing.  We then met my mom at Enchanted Forest later that week and headed back to Corvallis for more fun.  We ended the month visiting my sister and my nephew at their new house and going to the State Fair!

In September the kids started school.  Brandon was in First Grade and in Mrs. Lambert's classroom and Olivia was in kindergarten at Rocking Horse and in Ms. Lincoln's classroom.  Both kids started soccer and enjoyed it.  I had to have another foot surgery for a weird mass in my foot.  I luckily recuperated faster this time.  We got back into the swing of being in school and enjoyed some autumn activities.

In October we continued with the soccer games.  Brooke and I took the kids to the Roloff Family Farm and we enjoyed the fun pumpkin patch festivities there.  We had a fun Halloween party at our house and then I got to spend time at both kids' Halloween parties with them.  We had a blast trick or treating with the Mowery family.

In December we celebrated Brandon's 7th birthday and he had a fun pool party at the YMCA.  Brandon had fun playing basketball with his buddies Colton and Riley at the local YMCA.  We did various fun holiday activities including breakfast with Santa at the YMCA, visiting Santa at Bridgeport village, going to the Zoo Lights on a cold Portland evening.  We headed to the zoo and then down to Corvallis to spend Christmas there.  We then came back home to spend New Year's with Sean's family.  The cousins had a blast together.
