Pomerleau Family Blog: Fun last week before school started!

The kids and I had a fun day at the zoo before we had to pack up and head to California. The weather was nice and it was on a Tuesday so the crowds were low. We basically had the whole zoo to ourselves! The porcupines were out and being fed corn on the cob which I had no idea they loved. They were so cute eating it. Definitely a highlight for me as I love the porcupines.

The kids and I were going to fly into San Jose two days before Sean as he didn't have enough vacation to take the whole week off. It was Labor Day weekend but we were able to get super cheap flights on Southwest Airlines. Our good friend Brendan was able to drop us off at the airport and we got some yummy lunch to eat on the plane. We had the airplane almost to ourselves as there were so many empty seats. My Aunt picked us up and we were back to Los Gatos by 3:30 PM, just in time to enjoy the nice weather and a dip in the pool!

The next morning we woke up and we took Jack and the kids to the park. Jack had fun running around with his dog friends and the kids enjoyed playing at the park. Then we headed back to Lael's for a fun swim in the pool. After that we headed to Berkeley to see my sister and my newest niece Callie! The kids had fun hanging out with their cousins. I almost had a heart attack navigating my Aunt's fancy car and traffic to get to my sister's place! Callie was a bit fussy because she had to have a medical procedure done that day, but I did get lots of snuggle time with my newest niece.

The next day was a really sunny day and we decided to head to the beach with my Aunt and Jack before Sean flew in. We went to this fun dog beach near Santa Cruz where Jack and the kids had a blast running in the waves. We stopped at Marianne's ice cream which is a little hole in the wall ice cream shop in Santa Cruz that has amazing ice cream. Olivia got cotton candy and Brandon got snickerdoodle.

Then we headed back to Lael's house and had a good dip in the pool and Sean was picked up by Lael. Sean headed into the pool too with the kids and then we headed over to Lael's neighbor's house where the kids played with their kids. That night after dinner we all went over there and watched a movie on the lawn-Meatballs. It was really cute! The next day Tory and her family came for Saturday and Sunday night. We spent most of Saturday relaxing by the pool and letting the cousins play together.

The following day we spent the day swimming and hanging out at Lael's house-it was so relaxing. We watched a soccer match in the morning. Later that evening Tory and I went to a concert together at Stanford's outdoor amphitheater-we saw the Nationals. It was a really good show. It was nice for Tory and I to get some time together without the kids!

The following day we had to get ready to leave. We were leaving early afternoon and were trying to get back home in time for 6:00 PM soccer practice! The kids also had their first day of school the next day. We had such a fun trip, we were sad to say goodbye to Los Gatos. We did get some fun photos with my Aunt and Uncle before we left.
