This year we planned to go to Hood River with my entire family. My mom and Tory found a huge house in Hood River with a hot tub. We decided to go the third weekend in September when we normally have a Monday off from school. Unfortunately this year they changed the days off and we didn’t have that Monday off. My mom had the house rented Friday, Saturday, and Sunday night and we ended up coming Friday and Saturday night. We left for Hood River just after the kids got out of school around 3:00 PM on Friday. Traffic was awful and it took a long time to get through downtown Portland but we finally got to Hood River around 5:30 PM. We had just seen Tory’s family two weeks ago so it was nice that the kids remembered us still so well. The house was old and a bit chopped up but had an amazing outdoor area with a nice deck with views. It was also within walking distance to Hood River which was fun.
We ate some yummy lasagna that my mom made ahead of time and then hung out on the deck and watched the beautiful sunset. We ended the night in the hot tub and then snuggling baby Callie and watching late night Pac 12 football.

The next morning we got up and had breakfast and then went to the nearby fun park. Last time we had been to the park the kids were really little and it was just before Tory’s wedding. The kids had fun playing and then we headed to the Gorge White House which is a fun apple orchard and family farm with a nice cider tasting room. We had fun walking amongst the apples in the orchard and the kids picked some apples. Then we enjoyed some yummy cider. The view of Mt. Hood were amazing. We could see why Tory and Tom loved this place so much.

We went back to the rental house and the young kids took a nap. Sean was working on a yummy carne asada dinner and the boys let me, my sisters, and my mom escape to Mt. Hood Winery. We ended up sharing a yummy Rose and the weather was nice. We enjoyed spending some time together outside. Then we headed home and had a yummy carne asada dinner that Sean made.

The next morning we all woke up pretty tired. Tory’s kids were not sleeping the greatest. It was also pouring down rain. We hung out at the house for a bit and then walked to town where we wnet to a fun toy shop. Then later Tory, Tom, Sean, and I went and got a beer at one of Tom’s favorite breweries-Double Mountain in Hood River. It was a lot of fun! Then we had to pack up . We had pizza for dinner and then headed back home in the pouring down rain. The kids had school the next day and Sean and I had to work. Such a fun and memorable trip with everyone!
