Start of Fall sports

Brandon decided to do Flag Football through MVP Sports which met once a week on Sundays for practice before games and to do Fall Little League baseball.  Olivia was placed in accelerated developmental 2 gymnastics which was twice a week for 2 hours on Mondays and Wednesdays.  Originally, Olivia was placed in Developmental 1 but she got moved up and of course her soccer practice also happened to be on Monday and Wednesdays from 6-7 so she basically had 3 hours of sports on those days  Because of this, we asked her coach if she could do 1 day of Devos 2 on Monday and 1 day of Devos 1 on Thursday with her friend Addie to spread things out just during soccer season.  Her coach was accommodating so this worked well.

Olivia's soccer team needed an assistant coach and Taylor (my good friend Brooke's husband) was coaching the team so I decided to help out.  It was fun watching the girls progress.  Brandon was also doing Cub Scouts still and had graduated to the Bear den.  I was his assistant den leader so was quite busy with that as well on top of working full time.  It was fun though interacting with the kids and their friends.  Olivia's soccer practice started in the middle of August.  She had her good friends Addie and Amelia on her team from last year and Elise who was also on her team from last year.  Her friend Avery who was in her class last year also was on her team and so was 2 other Alberta Rider 1st graders-Izabel and Astrid.  I remember the first couple of weeks fondly as some of the girls had never played soccer before.  They progressed so well to passing and playing positions by the end of the season.

The girls first game was hard.  We didn't realize this but they played against this super stacked team that ended up going undefeated the entire season.  The girls lost like 20-1.  Olivia did score her first and the team's only goal!  We were a bit sad about the outcome but the girls rebounded well the next few games and won!  The kids who had never played before became more used to soccer and adjusted well.  Olivia scored several more goals and did great when she was concentrating!  Olivia's good friend Teodora who is in her class this year also joined the team midway through the season.  I ordered the girls fun Caticorn socks that all matched as well.

Going for the score

Brandon decided to try out Fall Baseball this year as he had so much fun with Spring baseball. He got to move up to the AA division which we though would mirror the spring season but it ended up being a cross between the AA and the A spring season.  He was supposed to have practice twice a week but they just ended up doing that for the first few weeks. After the games began which were twice a week and usually on Fridays and Saturdays they switched to just having practice on Tuesdays for 1.5 hours.  Brandon didn't know any one on his baseball team except for Bryan who played with him last year and is a 4th grader at Alberta Rider.  He ended up making a lot of friends and having some really good coaches.  He made a lot of progress and it helped that he got to play a lot of games in a short period of time.  We got lucky with the weather (we were rained out only once).  Brandon got to play a lot of first base and even pitched a few times.

Big swing!

Brandon also decided to try MVP Flag Football which was on Sundays for 1.5 hours.  He practiced for 30 minutes before his hour game.  He had fun but he had some awful weather for several of his games where it just poured and was freezing (not super fun to watch).  He did get to play with his basketball buddy Colton which was fun.
